MAC x Rihanna Collection Discussion (2013)

It's not about beating others to the punch per se, but I'll be damned if I don't get what I have my heart set on. When Iris Apfel released here, we got 8 of each lippie (except Morange, of course) for our entire country. At least, that's what I was told there. I got my lippies. Damn straight... Of course I want others to get theirs too, but I'm standing in the front line. And, alas imp:  when I get my paws on the stuff. It's sad, I know...

I got the last Scarlet Ibis from IA. I also wanted Flamingo but it was sold out already booh! But I think I'm gonna skip it this time around.

I stormed in there, litterally still opening the door and immediately calling a MUA to put aside all of them (except Morange) plus the liners. I paid for the stuff. Tried on all the colours a bit down the Kalverstraat. Fell in love with PaPa as I imagined would happen, stormed back in there to ask for BU's but PaPa was sold out already. A girl was there with her mother, asking for Flamingo too but it was sold out then. I was able to BU PiPi and went outside with my bag of happiness, leaving behind a dissillusioned girl. Of course it was sad for her, but that's to be expected. 8 l/s for an entire country? Come on.. (It added to the rush though, knowing that there were only about 7 other peeps in Holland sporting those lippies).

I know I sound evil, but hey, at least I'm evil with all the IA lippies.

Hmmmmm I think the waiting room needs improvement because I stayed in there for 30 minutes that's to long I'm beginning to think that mac picked and choose who got one like the lottery of something.because people that went in on here at the same time I went in didn't get one.

The waiting room only worked ob, my computer and not compute r. Whenever you guys say waiting room, dennis ferrers song red room starts playing in my head. "welcome to the red room honey...."

Things like that are enough to turn people off from the brand. If several incidents occur that do not feel right then there comes a point where you just walk off to another brand.

Months ago I was about to reach that point too, but I guess I'm ok now. Nonetheless, I feel that MAC frequently operates in a less than desirable way. Probably due to the popularity and the hype surrounding the brand. I feel that some things that happen are because of a certain arrogance. Don't get me wrong, I love MAC, but there comes a time when people are fed up with the sh*t and spend their money at any other given brand. No more stress or frustration. In a way that strategy works, but perhaps in the long run it will turn out to be their downfall...

A little less extreme would be nice. LE is fine, but in reasonable proportions without losing sleep over them...

Well, somehow MAC's waiting room feels more like a dark room to me. Or some shady alley with some dope dealers...

I don't see how they could do a waiting room for this launch because it has multiple items. Unless they do a waiting room to enter a 'Shop Rihanna' section. I just hope they don't do one. I was so confused last time :blink: I thought my computer froze cause it was taking so long. I gave up after a while, I wasn't't in a rush cause I knew it was coming around again, and it gave me a chance to see pics and swatches. I KNOW for sure I want it this time around tho, I would rather have it in reg packaging too.

I would. It was hard enough to get 1 lipstick with the way the site was lagging.. Imagine trying to buy multiple items?

I hope they don't announce a time and release it like they did riri woo because all the rihanna fans that aren't usually in to MAC collections are going to crash the site. I'll be stalking for this collection

I guess I got lucky when I got my RRW, I was in and out in like 5 minutes and had no problem what so ever which is probably why I am not opposed to the whole idea if they were to decide to do it again. I just hope they find a way to make it a bit easier to buy for everyone that doesn't require tons of lost sleep and everyone is able to keep their hair.

For some people it is about beating others aka thrill of the chase...and there's nothing wrong with that! I just don't have that motivation. I don't like the frenzy (which was what originally drove me away from MAC releases until my recent dip back in to the MAC crazy pool lol). I didn't even bother on the TR release...I pre-ordered my choices at my local MAC counter and picked them up yesterday with no problem (and sadly picked 2 more items...which ironically were all they had available to sale customers since I guess several other people did what I did...and which means our counter didn't get that many of each item because I think there were only 7 bags of pre-purchases put together including mine). Don't get me wrong...I try to be on time to get what I want BUT MAC has this funny way of rarely releasing at a set time so people have to stalk the website to be ready to pounce. And....if your area is like mine the ONE MAC counter we have gets very low numbers of product for LE collections....I remember when Face and Body collection came out last year they literally only got 2 of each pressed pigment, 1 of the LE brush, and only 2 bottles of each foundation color. I'm not in a small city so demand isn't the issue. But I digress lol.

Just got an email from meltcosmetics.com that there's a delay in shipments - factory's backed up due to upcoming holiday. Orders should ship out next week.
