Chanel Nail Polishes

I am a huge fan of Chanel polishes (as you can probably tell from my profile pic)

I am desperate to get my hands on Taboo, does anyone know when it will finally be available in the UK?

Thanks in advance
I read this morning in TPF that someone in the UK asked a Chanel SA and she said that Taboo will be released in June 26th. I hope it won't take that long! We are also waiting for it in Spain =/

I haven't been in this thread in a while. I love your avatar pic! I'm a huge fan of Chanel polishes as well. I'm only missing 4 colors from Chanel.com. I hope you're able to get Taboo. I bet you have amazing colors in your collection.

Just a little question.

I have 2 Chanel nail polishes, one I got in january last year and the other one last autumn. So on is a little bit older than 1 year and the other not even a year. But both of them got very thick and hard to apply already. Are there other people with this problem? What do you do against it?
They also chip (about 3 hours after application) a lot and get bubbly with a lot of topcoats, so I never bought one again because of the bad quality. But I like their colours sooo much!

Do you guys have the same issues with this nailpolish? If not, what kind of base and topcoat do you use?

I haven't had any issues yet. I know people use 1-2 drops of nail polish thinner when their polishes start to thicken. One to try is Seche Vite Restore. You don't want to use nail polish remover. It will ruin your polish.

I also know that Chanel polishes can be picky about base and top coats used. I'm using Butter London's base and top coats. I haven't had any issues. Dior Gel Coat is also pretty good. I do often see others say Chanel polishes chip quickly on them. I'm currently wearing a mani with Chanel Mimosa. It did bubble, but I think that's because I used 3 coats without waiting for them to dry. I was in a rush and I normally use 2 coats. Thick coats of polish can bubble. It's also not good to shake the bottles because that could cause bubbles. It's best to roll them.

What are you using for your base and top coats?

Thanks for your answer! At the moment I use a bascoat form Essie (Help me grow stonger) and a topcoat from Essence (Quick dry). With this one there appear a lot of bubbles, I think maybe my Chanel nailpolish doesn't like the fact of having a cheap nailpolish on top of him?

Before I used Good to Go from Essie and No chips Ahead, bubbles didn't appear but it still would chip (I applied a new coat of No chips ahead about every 2 days).

I believe that nail polish can chip not only because of base and top coat but your personal chemistry. That might sound like a bunch of malarky but honestly there are some brands that work like a charm on me and last forever and others that chip within a day. I have multiple base and top coats around and have played around with them to make certain colors last longer.

Also the finish makes a difference. Foils, like graphite for example, tend to chip faster than creams. I also notice odd chipping with linear holos I think because there are strands of holo in it so if the strand gets knicked? I think they are kinda like those glitter bombs where if the glitter goes over the nail tip and gets knocked off it takes some polish with it...

Like I said that is just how I feel about it and not scientific {that I know of}

Try playing around with different bases and top coats, make sure to run the polish along nail tip edge {'wrap the polish'}, and maybe prep your nails with rubbing alcohol first to make sure there are no oils on it before putting on your base coat.

Many years ago {like 30} I read a book written in the 50s on glam and one of the things I remembered as being a daily beauty task was to check your polish every night and refresh in case of chips. In case of no chips another coat of topcoat was recommended for shine {I think it was a long time ago} Anyway..... This has been a universal problem and I don't mind thowing on an extra coat of a shade that I am wearing mid-week {assuming I stick with a color a whole week!!!!} or sometimes I start layering. I remember one week I ended up with 5 layers by end but I thought the nails looked good so feh.

OH! When I get a mani/pedi at salon sometimes I will smudge a nail before I leave and they brush a drop of nail polish remover over smudge to smooth it out and then do another coat. That is an idea if you only have a chip on one or two nails. OR, when I was younger, I lived by that nail polish sponge thing in jar like kwik off and would just redo single nails without messing up the others by using a remover soaked cotton pad. Which reminds me to get some more kwik off stuff. Thanks!

I adore Chanel polishes. They are so chip resistant, especially when you use them for a pedicure. Right now I am wearing Chanel's Rouge Noir on my toes. My other fave is Taboo. Black Satin is ALWAYS a big hit. But yes, I adore their polishes and am always on the hunt for new colors. They are well worth the cost.

I get my pedicures bi-weekly and sometimes monthly. My friend, who does my pedis uses OPI base coat and top coat. She tells me it's best to use the top coat and base coat meant for each specific brand but seeing as I have many different brands of polish, that's not possible. So far, the OPI seems to work with the various brands I have. (KNOCKS ON WOOD)

Chanel polishes sound so lovely! I haven't had the pleasure of trying one yet, but Peridot was the first hue to make me really notice Chanel's polishes. They sound unique and well worth the price.

I'm new to this thread, but I have found Chanel polishes to be consistently excellent and worth the extra $$. I have a Taboo pedicure right now that's still chip-free and shiny - it will have to be removed due to the nails growing, not for any other reason!

I'm wearing Taboo right now on my toes too! This next pedi I'm going with Black Satin or Pirate. I have other great polishes but Chanel is the best and Estee Lauder is a close second. I've also discovered that Seche Vite is the best top coat by far for ANY pedicure or manicure.

I am new to this thread and am very interested to hear what others find to be the best base/top coat for their Chanel polishes! I am not new to Chanel but just recently picked up my first polishes-- Paparazzi, and then a few days later (because it kept haunting me) Taboo. I'm in love with both! Paparazzi reminds me of a much prettier, much more flattering and deeper/more complex OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes. Taboo, on the other hand, is in a class by itself! EDIT: I have found wonderful success by using (I know it's a random mix, but if you're a nail junkie you may have these already!): OPI chip skip, cnd stickey base, and then butter london hardwear. I had four solid days of no chips or tip wear, and tip wear on day five; then it all went to pot. :) thought I'd share, because I was impressed for any brand, let alone Chanel-- because my life usually doesn't allow for such unchipped polish, typically beyond, say, day two.

I just gave Pirate to my sister a few days ago. Now I'm regretting it. I think I'll purchase another. Lol

I use random top coats and no base coat with Chanel nail polishes and they always last forever. I did have to use some thinning drops in my Ciel De Nuit but its ancient; they worked perfectly and it's like new again. My order for Cosmic was cancelled because by the time I finished checkout it was sold out. Boooooo. Do they restock limited editions? Should I call around to boutiques? Thanks people. :)

Really? I'm surprised as it hasn't gotten the greatest reviews. I really like it though. I would call around to boutiques if you want it. I don't think you can count on them restocking.

I called a boutique-if they weren't sold out; they could only ship if I've purchased from a boutique in person. I know the reviews have been less than stellar; but i really like the swatches what I've seen. I was able to snag the blue one-just picked up my parcel-can't wait to play.
