I just tried my clarisonic to scrub (went over my lips after my nightly face wash/scrub routine). It worked great and my flamingo looks much better! :)

I found that sometimes no matter how gentle I am at exfoliating it can be too much for my lips so I skip it all together now. I use Jack Black Intense Therapy lip balm on my lips nightly and any time I need to moisturize them...and I find that works amazingly (assuming I don't get lazy and forget to do it at night for too long lol). Absolutely love JB...so much so that I stock piled it during a holiday sale lol.

:agree:  w/Em, but I would first add exfoliation to that.  I started using The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ and it changed my 'lipstick life.'  You can opt to         make your own at home, but this iteration works for me.  I have it in Vanilla Bean.  So, try exfoliating and then moisturize, prime, blot, apply lipstick,         blot, more lipstick as Em described.  ENJOY your new lippies!!!
Co-Sign on the Sara Happ! I have the red velvet scrub and balm which I use in that order and it is LOVE!!! And also co-sign on the Jack Black! I use it nightly as well and it instantly awakens tired dry lips! i know its supposed to be a men's product but I love it regardless!

Yeah it's easy to overdo it with a toothbrush. Get a soft bristle one and do it after you're done brushing your teeth, when the toothpaste and water has softened your lips. Then apply balm.
Heavens no---you want to gently scrub, not mutilate---and apply a lip balm immediately after.
Put The scrub on and let it rest for a bit before you scrub. And dont super rub it in like don't make yourself hurt! Let the stuff soften the lips 1st... -Emma
Thank you all so much for the great advice!! I think I was slightly mutilating my lips with the toothbrush. I think I'll have to order that lip scrub and see how I get on

thanks medgal! you even provided a comparison pic!!!
i see how they have some similarities, esp that bottom left shade, yet i guess rsq has more of a 'grey' tone and awq more of a beige. i like the fact that rsq's lightest is less light than awq's...is that just the photo, or actual fact? i was most worried that the lighter greys would be too 'white' on my skin and therefore less useful to me...but at the time when i checked out awq i didn't have awq with me to compare.
the only downside is that i already own typographic. i'm going to have to go grapple with that for a while..... ;)
I 100% agree with Medgal's analysis!

The AWQ is a little more versatile overall, because there's a little more variety between the shades - nude/mauve/white/black-ish. None of the colors really read "grey" the way all the colors in RS do, though.

The lightest in RS is not as bright as the white in AW, it's a pale grey that is not bright or reflective at all - it makes a really excellent brow bone color for a grey eye look for people who don't look good with a bright or very contrasty color on their brow bone (like me!!!).

I bought both, and I rarely buy quads, because taupe (AW) and grey (RS) are the two colors that are super fussy for me around my eyes and usually look too cool. If you're trying to save money, have typographic and some other greys you like already, you probably can skip RS, but if you love grey and are always bummed because they never look that good on you for being too cool, the RS will be really satisfying. I basically feel like I don't need any more grey shadows at all now - my needs are being taken care of. :)

Jack Black admits that the majority users of their lip balms are women and apparently we use their hand cream more (I haven't tried it yet but I kind of want to). The lip balm is truly amazing. My fave is the Shea Butter one...I also love the grapefruit one. I have 5 of the shea butters as bu's lol. I want to try some of the other scents too but I'm in no hurry. My stash will keep my lips beautiful for awhile lol

I swear by the natural mint and shea butter one! I bought a gift set that had the lemon, lavender, and blackberry ones. Apparently there's a mandarin orange one I haven't found.

I'm the same. The best thing I've found is to clean my lips thoroughly with micellar water on a cotton pad - that's as much exfoliation as I need, and it seems to leave my lips as smooth as they've ever been. Follow with balm of course - my current favourite is Carmex Lime Twist. I want to try Jack Black sometime.

I think Flamingo is my love of the week lol. I realized I hadn't given it any love since I swatched it so I tossed it on real quick after I got home from the gym (hence the no makeup pic lol). Such an easy color to put on and go! Might have a little bu skippers remorse lol
Flamingo doesn't look like this on me. The color really compliments you.
