There are definitely "good" lustres and bad lustres - the good ones being smooth and pigmented and not drying. Same thing for the satins - the newer LE satins are much much better and not so drying. What I do is apply a coat of the lustre, then pat it into my lips with a fingertip (rather than blotting with a tissue, which makes it patchy), then I do a second coat on top. I find this gets rid of any unevenness plus it makes the color stay on much better. I will admit, I also do rather like the way lustres look when they've dried down and been partially faded too, it's a soft effect. ok so SS is a SATIN??? That's great, because I think I have enough sheerer deep plums between Yung Rapunxel and Boyfriend Stealer. Sweet Succulence looks much cooler toned than Prince Noire, but not so brownish as the RiRi one is looking to be! FtS, SS and Smash Hit for me - although I remember not buying Smash Hit when it first came out because I was getting Liquid Lurex and didn't want something to samey. MAC REALLY needs to do a color like Sweet Succulence in the Dazzle formula (or even Firm Form - black with bronze dazzle- that would be insanely beautiful!!!!) :rules:
Sadly SS is a lustre :( But YP was an amplified. You found it sheer?

YR was extremely patchy on me, so I'd have to blot it down to get it to look smooth, then it'd start disappearing from the inner parts of my lips, so it would wind up looking sheer on me after all that kerfuffle. 'Made me say no more buying lipsticks online I can't try first. That sure made my life easy with all this Riri mess.

Boyfriend Stealer is also on the sheer side of the cremesheen spectrum on me, but it behaves much better than YR.

I actually think a lustre in a deep plum might behave a little better on me if it's one of the good lustres, but yeah, a satin would be the 100% absolute best finish for this shade (although I would kill for a dazzle with red, pink, silver and/or gold sparkle in it in dark plum). Come to think of it - deep plum would be a good shade for the Mineralize lipstick finish too. I loved the sound of the frost one in the Nudes & Metallics collection, but again - I have sworn off buying makeup I can't see in person and wild horses can't drag me to the local Pro store, so that was that.

Desire from the permanent line is a dark reddish plum that I love. I've bought it several times and it's never been patchy or drying and the lasting time has been great. If the new one is like that, I'd be happy to get it. Except that they might look a lot alike...

Does anyone out there know if they changed Palace Pedigreed at all? I was doing a little digging on previous reviews of that shade. I came across T's review. She really disliked that shadow both of the times it has already been released. She didn't hold back any punches on dogging it at all. She had stated something along the lines of what a disappointment it was in both releases.
Here is what T had said:

  • Palace Pedigreed is a blackened burgundy with a barely-there sheen. This has a satin finish. This shade was in the Palace Pedigreed Eyeshadow Quad from Fabulous Felines, and while the pigmentation wasn’t great then, it’s even worse now. It’s dry, sheer, and applies unevenly because of how dry and stiff the texture is. Make Up For Ever #131 is much more red-based. Bare Escentuals Passion is more similar but still has a stronger red-base. Le Metier de Beaute is richer and more red-based. MAC Fig. 1 is similar but possibly darker.

This is quite possibly the most disappointing eyeshadow quad I’ve ever had the displeasure of trying by MAC. I think the only MAC product I’ve been more disappointed by were their Suite Array duos from years ago. Even the Big Bounce Eyeshadows, despite not meeting claims, were a product that worked well as a base. At $38, this kind of quality is a slap in the face to a buyer. Three of the four shades have barely-there pigmentation, and those same three have dry, stiff textures that make application frustrating–it doesn’t get better with a brush or on eyes. I appreciate matte and satin finish eyeshadows, but these mattes are exactly why many opt for shimmers and the like.

What do you guys think???
I think T maybe needs to clean a brush once in a while and maybe her issues with "poor pigmentation," and "wierd overcoats/hard surface" that make it hard to get a swatch from powder products would not be so bad. JMHO, don;'t throw rocks.

I never got the EE quad, had too many similar colors so maybe it was crappy but the colors in the PP quad were all fine for me. I think I use PP in the V of the eye, so did not really have to blend it much but it definitely has color pay off and no problems with patchiness or such. It is probably dupeable but the reason I probably love it and will be getting the single is I never depot my quads so I want the singleton because it is really hard for me to find plum, pruple or wine colored e/s that don't make my eyes look like pink eyed rabbit effect or irritate my eyes. (I think there is something in the red or purple pigments that is irritating for me, and PP doesn't do that.) So, that is why it is one of the few e/s I will actually back up.

I have and love Brazenly from the Nudes and Metallics collection. Why don't you give it a try? I do have Palace Pedigree on my to buy list but added a note to check if dry/stiff based on these posts. I do not own PP from previous launches. If it is not the best quality a skip will be ok as Brazenly do get a lot a love and I have a back up of it. There is no question about the quality of Brazenly IMO. I am not sure if they are really dupes tho but close enough for me.

Uncalled for. She's been reviewing cosmetics for years, I think she knows how and when to clean her brushes.

I think sometimes Ts swatches/ reviews suck. Overall I love that she does them and I love previews and would rather have them than not
