If I recall correctly the blushes didn't have the odd square.

Blushes, no. They're solid. Shadows, yes.

This is what i thought of as well, but yes, the off-center placement is reminiscent of this.

You mean glitters, right? There's a huge difference between pigments and glitters, even pigments and reflects glitters. Everyone always uses the terms interchangeably and it confusing, but they're two completely different animals. Just a friendly fyi.
