MAC Divine Night Collection (October 17, 2013)

I'm beyond obsessed with Punk Couture but I do kinda wonder how the gray lipstick in this collection will look on a WOC. It just seems like such a deliberate dark gray color...hmmm.

Me too! I spent way too much money at Sephora and DSW today, so my list is smaller now. I want two lipsticks, one CSG and one MSF at the moment. I still want a lip bag too.

This is all very NC/C friendly, but none of it is catching my eye unfortunately (minus the one new fluidline), and im an NC. I've always been a fan of MSFs, but it seems like they're just throwing crap together now just to churn out a new design, and it's a design that makes no sense to the theme :dunno:

I   Specktra. I joined because I wanted to get some new tips and refresh my makeup stash and try new things. My wallet is empty because I am on this blog daily, but I have some awesome goodies. lol! I am a newbie, but I am truly grateful because I always missed out on LE items in the past. So, thanks to the veteran members for your hard work.

Who you telling, lol. I miss the old MAC a lot...a lot a lot a lot. Not merely because of less hype, but I feel like since there were less collections they tended to put only their biggest and best ideas forward. These days...there's hit and miss collections, collections where its clear there were technical issues but they still rushed it out, collections with horrible premise ideas. I got the opportunity to meet two of the individuals behind MAC collections who work with the planning and color execution. They were both perfectly lovely, wonderful and funny...but... You ever had that feeling of talking to someone perfectly nice and still wanting to punch them in the face? 

im skipping . i want way to much from punk too.

In any case I think the board is just changing. Not that that's a bad thing, just a fact. I think of it as MAC making a shift in people's perceptions. They used to do fewer launches and collections last longer so there was never any hype or rush. Now however there's 2 sometimes 3 collections a month and they're doing more and more high-profile stuff.

The higher profile stuff will - of course - bring folks who's major career is e-bay. MAC's created the hype machine and let's face it getting collections these days is ridiculous. Now its partly "Oooh I gotta get this" and "GURL I GOT this, you know MAC ain't easy for everybody but I got mine (cheese face" so the competition (intentional btw) is raised.

Facts are this board tends to stalk, announce, and discuss collections and that fact is getting out. Folks steal info from Specktra ALL THE TIME. Major blogs in fact, lol, so its not like we're getting thanked and patted on the back for our contribution to someone else's pocketbook. It was only natural eventually folks would get sick of the game and do something different.

I'd personally advise everyone to stop talking about any new systems, plans, pm's and etc. lol. Work it out behind the scenes

and if it don't work out then it wasn't meant to be

The thing people are trying to avoid is any drama and I think talking about this stuff just brings a ton of it.

Decisions, decisions!  Same problem... There is so much I want to buy in the next 3 months that I have to make wise choices on what I purchase.   And I need to actually stick to the lists I make ^^  I always go back for more lol. :nono:

The problem I'm having is that everything looks appealing in the promo pics! However, swatches remind me that I don't need to purchase these colors because they won't work for me or they're dupeable. I'm trying this new thing where I only get things that I'll really use and not just because the item is hyped up!

Me too! Bought estee lauder audacious plum blush and Mac prolong wear concealer and more studio fix powder at Macys. Went to Sephora and bought bite lip pencil in tannin, Marc Jacobs lipgloss in gypsy and Mu4e pro powder. Yep, that doesn't include what I bought at rite Aid.

Lol at least now it does. It used to get pretty quiet late at night before. I remember joining because I was trying to alert all of specktra it was up lol I had a ton of those green badges they got rid of

Finally something NC based and its mineralized? BOOOOOOOOO! Are you sure abot EE? LOL to me it looks like it will be a dark brown corpsey mess on me.

I wore EE + Stone on my top lip and Nude with no liner on my lower lip all day and I couldn't tell the difference in any kind of light. My lips are quite red pigmented, if that matters much at all. It still is a weird brown color, though. I like it but I already lived through the 90's where this kind of color was all over the place. Private Party is the clear lipstick winner from this collection for anyone

It was just amusing to me since it was a business setting and everyone was on their P's and Q's and they're both so proud discussing the number of MAC collections a month and I'm just smiling...enjoying their company...but still thinking "I know a group of ladies who would kick you all down the street and back for those 2-3 collections a month"
