I ordered a bunch of the Hourglass Powders, but I can't say enough good things about NARS Light Reflecting Loose powder. It softens/blurs the look of skin and it just melts in. No white cast on me with this powder, even in photography.
Thank you for the info MissTT and Audrey, it's very helpful! :)

Ohhh! I saw Christine at Temptalia take a pic with the Nars setting powder and she looked really really nice with it. I had the same problem with Makeup Forever's setting powder. It was not cute looking at the pics lol. Maybe a big fluffy blush will help with the application and avoid the white cast?
Yeah, I think Nars will be better than MUFE one, sicne it's not just pure silica. According to the video don;t apply it on dry skin and apply it lightly with fan brush =) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWaC1LWA0pc
I personally didn't try any silica powders yet since I was scared, but now I may give it a try. I just hoped the hourglass ambient powder could be used instead of setting powder, since it's described as setting powder >.< would save money >.< But if people say it doesnt blur imperfections as much... sigh

I AM SO EXCITEDDD!!!
I have problems with dry skin on cheeks and so far any foundation I tried accentuated the flakes, it only looks good if I really get rid of flakes (exfoliate, hydrate) before applying foundation. I used Lorac Natural Performance foundation for a photoshoot and it looked really good, though up close you could still see the dry skin, but I didn't see it on the photos. =) Btw try using different moisturizer for T-zone and for dry areas, it will work better ;) I was changing my skincare routine lately and went from super dry cheeks to quite oily cheeks, and trying to find the good middle right now. I always thought I had dry combination skin, but looks like I was using wrong products. Seems my skin is more on the normal/oily side, but I was overdrying it.

Thank you for posting that video link!! Now I understand what i'm doing wrong with the makeup forever setting powder lol. You're awesome! :D I read on blogs that the hourglass powder is more of a finishing powder vs Nars being a setting powder.

Josh Collier did a great job explaining about the hour glass powder :)

Can anyone compare the current Laura Mercier Artist palette (with the pebbled case) to the Lorac Pro palette? I am eyeing the Artist palette (especially because I have green eyes and love purple shadows) but I just got Lorac Pro and it seems as though there may be a lot of similar colors.

I got my VIB sale card in the mail! I'm having the hardest time putting my list together - it's been a REALLY long few weeks so I want to treat myself, but I also need to save money for vacation and a cross-country move in 2014...it's good and bad that I have a week to figure it out!

Current cart:
Benefit Boi-ing 1 + 2 (definite - my favorite concealers EVER)
OCC Tarred lip tar (definite)
Clinique Bottom Lash mascara
Sephora Technicolor Tinsel lash curler
Tarte Thoughtful Treasures set

Not sure what will stay and what will go (or leap into my cart!) by the time I make my order. I need to do some stash investigation first!

Your whole post sounds familiar to me! October has been especially rough for me, and I have a small vacation in a few weeks and a move in January. I'm trying to keep myself at a certain limit while not going overboard, and it's very tough. Your cart sounds awesome though! I think I finally have mine where I want it:

Deborah Lippmann Wicked set
UD Vice 2
Dior Minuit Lipstick
UD Revolution Lipstick in Venom
Hourglass Ambient in Diffused
Dior Nailpolish in Minuit
L'Occtaine Hand Cream

It's very tempting to toss a brush or some Meteorites in there. If anyone wants to encourage/discourage anything in my cart, feel free.

I have the hourglass ambient lighting brush, and I love it! It works fine with the small powders in the palette. I really like it for gently laying the powder on top of my makeup. I love the nars powder as well, but I use a fluffy brush, and lightly buff it in to make sure it isn't sitting on my skin in a white film. It works great for me.

When did you become VIB? If it was recently you may have missed the cutoff for the day they pulled the data. Does that make sense?

The Nars Light Reflecting Pressed powder VS Hourglass Ambient powder.

I have both powders. I have dry skin. The one comment I will make is that the Nars LR Pressed powder barely comes onto my brush when I swipe it.. but that's more than good for me, since I have dry skin and I don't like to use a lot of powder products. Wayne Goss did a video on the Nars LR Pressed Powder and talked about that factor..

I will say - if you're oily skinned or tend to use a lot of powder -- the Nars LR pressed powder probably isn't the best option... If you have normal / normal to dry skin, then it is WONDERFUL product.

I can't speak of the loose powder as I just don't care for loose powders (too messy and not convenient). I know Kandee Johnson uses it though.

I prefer the Nars to the Hourglass for my skin type (dry).. but I do use the Hourglass powders occasionally (I have them in Dim and Diffused)..

Just my opinion..

I was so excited to see a pretty Sephora VIBR envelope in my mail yesterday. It was a bit disheartening to open and find that the discount is the same as VIB. One perk of VIBR that I love however is the free shipping.

Venom is gorgeous! Shame on me! I bought it 2 months ago and have not worn it. I reach for RiRi Heaux or Retro Matte Fixed on Drama "Er Day." I have to give my other lippies some love....

I'd say if there's anything you want, to go for it. However, if you're not really feeling anything, you can always wait until the $20 gift cards come in during December
