I wish there was a way we can all get organized and kill this trend of paying inflated prices on Ebay.... I will keep on wishin'
Right if everyone committed to stop buying from the evilbay sellers they would lose interest and stop buying up all the limited collections before we can get them. It would be nice if something like that could be organized sort of an evilbayer boycott!

Not gonna lie I'd be a scab. I personally think the wait room and giving counters only two or three of each item is a marketing gimmick and is even more ridiculous than the evil bayers.

This. I blame MAC. Once someone buys something then I feel like they can do whatever they want with it. Plenty of people argue that buying tons of backups is unfair to those who just want one. A lot of brands make limited edition collections but they aren't near impossible to get and you don't have to wait for the store to open and stalk the website. MAC figured out that exclusivity makes people go wild. And I guess since it ain't broke they won't fix it.

I totally agree. Plenty of lines have LE stuff, but MAC likes to make a smaller amount so not everyone gets it. For most other brands LE just means it's only available this one particular time, but most people who want it end up being able to get it at least the first week of release. W/MAC u basically have a matter of minutes to get it. Sending 3 items to a counter or none at all (my store NEVER got TTT). I don't blame people on eBay. I've put items I decided I didn't want to keep up there...starting my auction at .99 cents. People have the option to stop bidding once it reaches retail price if they want to. IMO having people on EBay w/it is no different than folks up here who have 2-3+ of an item. There are still people out here trying to get ONE of something. I don't begrudge those who have backups and I certainly don't begrudge folks who put their stuff on eBay. Those buyers are grown and have the option of not paying. Also, I see folks in the clearance bin up here selling LE items all the time for double, triple, quadruple the retail price. It's no different. I've seen Barbie lipsticks going for $59+ up here.

I know what you all mean. I was looking for that bronzey lip glass from the temperatures rising collection. People wanted to sell it on amazon for $59 + tax!! That's crazy! Now that I see MC repromotes some LE's I will just stay aware of collections and look online fore product info.

Bu now I feel like to get products I want I have to buy it before I try it. I decided to think over the weekend about Liqueur and the pink lip glass from fall. By Monday the items were sold out.
It seems MACs strategy with these LE's will lead to a lot of returns. People feel pressure to buy, but if hey don't like they return it and its destroyed. Whereas with regular products people can go into stores and try the items and make sure they like it first.

But I guess he impression of exclusivity is worth it to MAC, it makes the customers feel special I guess. Or a combination of excited and frustrated at least.

If you mean underdressed, I just bought that from a CCO in Mebane, NC exactly 1 week ago today! It had just been put out. I totally agree w/the fact that a lot of these items end up being destroyed because people do have to buy first, decide later. Several people up here mentioned returning lipsticks. I'm sure there are people not on here that did the same thing. It sucks because somebody who really liked it could have gotten it.

Call me a nerd, but I would love to see the statistics on returns on different types of products

I feel bad returning stuff but it is hard sometimes to determine if you would l like it. I have returned a couple lipsticks back to Mac that I ordered off of their website because I did not like it. The Mac store in Dillards does not carry all of Mac products so I end up having to order what they don't carry in store online. Then when the item arrives I sometimes don't like it as much as I thought I would or I have a shade just like it that has a different name which Mac is famous for doing.

I so agree with you. I feel bad to when I return a popular item. Since being on here I just let someone know that I have it so I dont have to retun it. I would rather take a 1 or 2 dollar than feel like I cheated someone out of a product lol. Also MAC and their not true to color swatches get me everytime. When I was looking for a nude lipstick omg I ordered so many only to sell them or send them back.

I think Mac creates false scarcity they just release a small amount first and then restock later. I agree it's a marketing ploy. I'm not saying everyone who sells on eBay is evil either to me starting and auction at a reasonable price is just fine when you have items to sell but we've all seen those auctions where the prices are just ridiculous from sellers who've brought a multitude of the LE items just for that purpose. I know that business is business and if the demand is there they will keep on doing it I'm just saying they won't get my $.

I do wonder if this collection will be as crazy as the last one in terms of demand since the products aren't all that great. I feel like there was more anticipation surrounding the fall collection (TTT and packaging). Maybe we get "lucky" and instead of waiting online 3hrs we'll just wait 2....lol

DIAMOND BLUSH V HIBISCUS KISS Hey Spectrarettes, I purchased the RiRi Hearts DIAMOND blush based on all the hype here. I had not even seen it. It's not for me. For some reason, I thought it would be like the Hibiscus Kiss. It is not. I think Diamond works best on pale skin. I know several people were looking for a Diamond backup. I would love to swap with you for the Hisbiscus Kiss Blush. If no response, I will return it to the Belk in Westminister Md if someone wants to buy it at the store. It has NEVER EVER BEEN OPEN. I can tell without applying that is is too light for my complexion.

I always thought this was standard business practice in general. You don't know how much product is going to sell no matter how much of a "buzz" is created. And you never want loads of product going down the drain because you overestimated demand.
