RiRi Viva Glam 2014

Supposedly it was because she was getting too many tattoos. It was right around the time she had like four and, again supposedly, Covergirl said they would have to terminate her contract if she got more because she wouldn't fit the image they were seeking in a celebrity representative.  Then she got like 14 more, lol.
Nah, Pink has a ton of tattoos so that doesn't seen right. I thought it was because of her going back to Chris Brown after their altercation.

Just what the Viva Glam campaign needs- the poster child for irresponsible choices. RuPaul go beat some sense into her with your awesome heel! Before anyone says anything I mean that in a purely metaphorical sense. Though lord knows a year working in the Peace Corps might do some real good towards making her less of a complete narcissist- thanks MAC for adding fuel to the fire that is her ego. I'm guessing Kim Kardashian/Lindsay Lohan will be the 2015 spokespeople.
Poster child for irresponsible choices? That's a little harsh. Especially considering you're comparing her to RuPaul. He may be a bit more philanthropic but at the end of the day he's still a grown ass man in latex lingerie spread eagle in a global campaign that ANYONE can access including children. Does that make RuPaul irresponsible? Don't get me wrong. I love the gay community and ADORE RuPaul! (Hello, Drag Race!!!) But that campaign ad was hella over the top. I loved it but do you know how many customers were appalled when my store put out the display? Personally, I'm not offended by RuPaul and I don't have an issue with Rihanna's twitter wars or drug use. She smokes weed and speaks her mind to whoever has an opinion about her. So what? I'm sure we ALL have done much worse. We just aren't publicly scrutinized for it. Give her a break! I'm glad she's the spokesperson. Maybe we'll get more fun colors like GaGa and Nicki's campaign. I don't like any of the other Viva Glam lippies. I hope she'll spice things up!

I agree that we all have made mistakes. She is only 25. I think someone as talented as Rihanna should surround herself with a team that can better avoid embarrassing gaffes and help her make the most of these opportunities. Whenever I see her in the news for behaving immaturely, I have to ask myself whether we as a society could be promoting the smart, talented women and men out there that are doing good things for the world and not simply avoiding embarrassment. Anyway, I hope it's a great new color so individuals living with AIDS get the support they deserve and need!

Everyone is going to have an opinion about whatever spokesperson is chosen. I am not a Rihanna fan, I just love makeup. She will deal with the consequences of her decisions. I made plenty stupid decisions in my 20s thats for sure. I am in my 30s and want my life to have less drama and nonsense. It is so important to have positive people surrounding you that's for sure. I am sure it is tough being in the spotlight so I tend to be more compassionate and less judgemental. My husband asked why I was buying RiRi items from MAC if I don't listen to her music and I told him - its truly for the love of makeup, especially items that work well with my skintone!

This post is gold! We should frame it! Lol seriously. I really do wish she would reevaluate her circle. Her closest friends are the real trainwrecks if you ask me. Maybe next year a more positive role model will be in the limelight. It does seem like society loves to glorify and glamorize negativity. I'd love to see Adele or Beyonce be a spokesperson someday. wishful thinking lol

Suffering from RiRi overload at this point. I agree that she is like the Kardashian of MAC. Hopefully this will be the last we see of her for a while.

Having said that, if it is a color that I can pull off, then I will buy it to support the cause.

RuPaul is a drag queen- MAC used to be quite cutting edge and they were a perfect marriage for the campaign. I don't care about Rihanna's sexiness but she has proven how little she cares for fans through her crappy choices to get fucked up before shows and be late or simply miss them completely. I wouldn't suggest someone NOT buy her music but I think there are plenty of positive choices that would have suited being a freaking brand ambassador. Janelle Monae would have been fabulous, were she not already tied to CG. Rihanna is just a mess, and everything she does in her "professional life" screams that she just doesn't care. I understand a lot of women just like the cosmetics and I don't see anything wrong with that, however this is Specktra so we are allowed to hand over our 2 cents whether anyone agrees or not. Maybe this is because I work with impressionable teens and Tweens who are at risk and see how increased media visibility of her BS ultimately has an impact. I find her association with this campaign particularly ironic.

At least I hope for a beautiful (bright) color with a retro matte finish!
YES ! that would be awesome. I personally just started getting into lipsticks this year and Rihanna made me look at MAC......and now i just LOVE this retro matte finish. I hate how glossy lips look on me. So its like i get 2 things for the price of one. Something to satisfy the RiRi fan inside and I get to look awesome

*** on a side note, Im a bit peeved at myself for not getting Riri Boy.....needed to share the frustration

I'm happy! Since Viva Glam goes towards people living with AIDS, I hope they get tons of money from the Rihanna Navy! I hope it's a great color!
I definitely agree with that! It works for makeup lovers and goes to a great cause!

She was the Covergirl spokesperson for a while after that night but maybe they ended the contract because she wouldn't dump her abuser. I think everyone buys makeup for different reasons. There will be people who buy it because of the spokesperson and those who buy it in spite of them, clearly there's a LOT of people ready to buy makeup if it's Rihanna. Hence the drama. None the less when a company employs someone to represent their brand they are going to be associated with them and their actions. Nivea wrote a whole schpiel about why they were choosing to sever their relationship with her. I'm just happy at least MAC doesn't support a celeb who calls people f*** on Twitter.

For some odd reason I thought it was gonna be Miley Cyrus bc in the beginning of her 23's video she writes on the mirror with mac lipstick. I must admit her makeup looked flawless in the video...
