RiRi Viva Glam 2014

For all we know Rihanna could have been approached for the VG 2014 and negotiated her own line with MAC to come out first as part of the deal. It was a smart business move on her part if that was the case. I loved the Riri line, not because of Riri, but because the colors were so complementary to my skintone. But many people will buy the products whether they wear them or not simply because it is affiliated with Riri. Either way, it's a Win-Win for MAC and Riri to keep riding the wave while they can. That being said, I sure hope she doesn't get 2 years of VG.

Everyone is going to have an opinion about whatever spokesperson is chosen. I am not a Rihanna fan, I just love makeup. She will deal with the consequences of her decisions. I made plenty stupid decisions in my 20s thats for sure. I am in my 30s and want my life to have less drama and nonsense. It is so important to have positive people surrounding you that's for sure. I am sure it is tough being in the spotlight so I tend to be more compassionate and less judgemental. My husband asked why I was buying RiRi items from MAC if I don't listen to her music and I told him - its truly for the love of makeup, especially items that work well with my skintone!
Yes! Just give me the ding dang lipstick lol!

RuPaul is a drag queen- MAC used to be quite cutting edge and they were a perfect marriage for the campaign. I don't care about Rihanna's sexiness but she has proven how little she cares for fans through her crappy choices to get fucked up before shows and be late or simply miss them completely. I wouldn't suggest someone NOT buy her music but I think there are plenty of positive choices that would have suited being a freaking brand ambassador. Janelle Monae would have been fabulous, were she not already tied to CG. Rihanna is just a mess, and everything she does in her "professional life" screams that she just doesn't care. I understand a lot of women just like the cosmetics and I don't see anything wrong with that, however this is Specktra so we are allowed to hand over our 2 cents whether anyone agrees or not. Maybe this is because I work with impressionable teens and Tweens who are at risk and see how increased media visibility of her BS ultimately has an impact. I find her association with this campaign particularly ironic.
I didn't mean to offend! Sorry! I was kind of illustrating what BrinaBoo10 was saying. I stated before I love RuPaul and support what he stands for but there's controversy with him heading the campaign too. There will probably never be a spokesperson everyone is happy with. So feel free to throw in your two cents. Hell toss in a quarter! LOL! I just want to know the color! I can't remember how long it took for us to find out last year but I'm hoping it's before December. Wasn't Nicki 2 released in January?

For some odd reason I thought it was gonna be Miley Cyrus bc in the beginning of her 23's video she writes on the mirror with mac lipstick. I must admit her makeup looked flawless in the video...
Miley's personal makeup artist got her start as a MAC MUA here in So. Cal. Her look is pure MAC. I don't think she's quite ready for primetime to be the Viva Glam spokesmodel yet, but who knows about the future.

Personally, I love it when MAC goes for the really offbeat choices - Cher would honestly be my number one choice for VG, since she's really embodying the all ages - all races ethos lately, in particular. I have a friend whose friend worked on the makeup for her recent video with all the different women in it. When they sat down to figure out the basic look, Cher told her she wanted each woman to get whatever makeup look they personally asked for, so they did individual, personalized makeup for 40 women for that video. Huge job, but very exciting. That's what I call a positive makeup message! Maybe Cher's already done something for MAC in the past, though?

I think the colour will be release right after riri holiday collection is released. I guess I'm the only one that wants a light pinky/purple colour.

I've been wondering about the Grey lippie that was posted... maybe she is going to be going something with this years black friday lipstick?!?! The tag on that instagram photo said it was a sneek peek of an upcoming MAC project. I hope they don't put out that color for viva glam, but it could be cool for the black friday color.

Man I really dislike Rihanna as an artist...but I have to admit that her lipsticks in her 2013 collections have been my favorite pieces! Deep down I have to admit I'm excited for a new viva glam lippie shade from her..and being viva glam that should be easier for everyone to get a hold of!

Maybe they can throw some of the funds towards herpes awareness too. Just kidding of course y'all know ill get one of these no matter what the color and I do support the cause. I'd love pink with silver frost if that's been done I haven't seen it.

Cher would make a great icon collection if they still did those. Cher would make an amazing VG spokesperson as well. Viva Glam Cher. I love it.

Nope. The black friday lippie is the black that's launching with PC, early for BF, then again for PC.
At least they support the living expenses of those with HIV/AIDS (I hope its a significant amount). I remember when the yellow wrist bands for cancer were popular many people not realizing they didn't go towards Cancer Research but Cancer AWARENESS. So much wasted money for a good cause.
It does. The awareness part goes towards the purchase of condoms and such in countries in Africa, where men and women who are and are't infected don't know that sex with a condoms are 1. an option, 2. not reusable and 3. a way to prevent the spread of the disease, and also to purchase testing kits. The rest goes towards living expenses that are affected as a result of the cost of the meds needed to treat them (cab fare to treatment, daycare costs while at treatment, etc).

If I think it would be flattering on me I'll buy it because it's for a wonderful cause. I could give a good ding dang dong who the spokesperson is. I'm not surprised it's Rihanna, MAC made a TON of money off her this year from the young people who are her fans, and those who just love/want makeup in general, so that was a no brainer. I don't really like her, I find her... I can't think of the right word, but it is amusing how much she's praised for having very little talent. But that's been the music industry for decades now. It's not about talent, it's about marketing and promotion of a brand. And these collections with MAC are a part of that.

Just give me the lipsticks MAC. I don't have time for your games, ok???

At least this one will be available for a while so there won't be a need to get my magazines for the waiting room.

I really hope it isn't that frosty, metallic gray lipstick. That has to be one of the ugliest lipsticks I've ever seen. It didn't even work for Rihanna and she can pull off most things.

I know a lot of people are tired of Riri but she has sold out all her collections in record time and I'm really happy that MAC is taking advantage of this for a good cause with Viva Glam program.

Oh I completely see where you are coming from and honestly did like a Tex Avery double take at the new RuPaul VG photos! Not offended in the slightest and always welcome a friendly difference in opinion.
