I wore Strong Woman over the weekend with Fashion Boost l/l. Someone thought it was RiRi Boy.

How is that possible, except for them being purple, they are so different!

Was it someone who assumed that because of all the RiRi going on with MAC?

She doesn't own any MAC and she's seen me in RRB before. She also said I was the same color as another WOC who was about 3 shades darker than me so there's that... I thought that was a strange comment for someone who has more than 5 years exp in cosmetics. It's common though. People truly do think we all look alike to some degree. That's why I don't trust most MUAs.

I agree My mom has always had this problem. And the poor thing, anytime she'd find a shade that actually matched it would get discontinued. Now she wears mostly some brand with fair in it I think? I'm only half black but mac artists try to put me at nc45 like everyone else who's kinda tan lol

NW20 is notorious too. I got matched to NW20 by several MAC MUA's simply because I am pale and have redness in my face. I am an NC15...Once a MUA told me that most people around here have NW20. That's right, I you match everybody that comes in with that colour, obviously all those people walk around with the same shade, be it orangey or greyish. SMH...

They always try to put me into an NC20 or an NW20 in liquid foundation and it looked a hot mess on me. I can see it's too dark and when I go outside in the sunlight it looks totally different than my skin tone. I had a really hard time getting an MUA that would actually help me find a correct shade. Part of my problem is that I'm almost a Neutral (I have to mix NC and NW). And when I use heavier coverage, like a liquid foundation even small differences really show up on my fair skin. But because I am rather neutral with a tiny bit of redness on my cheeks some MUAs suggest NW some suggest NC, but even 15 is too dark for me in Studio fix fluid.

I recently went to get a new compact of Studio Fix powder plus foundation.... I have been wearing the same shade since 2002, but I was living in Hawaii and Texas most of the time. I now living in Germany and is cloudy and I don't get nearly as much sun as I did then, so I needed to find a lighter shade. I finally got someone who asked me what brush I use to apply my powder foundation and she used the same brush and actually applied it to a large portion of my face so I could choose the best possible shade. I ended up with NW18 in the powder plus foundation (that runs lighter than liquid) and I'm 2 parts NW10 and 1 part NC15 mixed for studio fix fluid.

I wish that it was easier to go into a MAC store and get an MUA that would actually help you, instead of just trying to grab something and sell it to you without making sure it's what you really need. In fact, because I need 2 shades to mix for liquid foundation, had anyone really helped me they would have sold two bottles instead of just one. But... I had to buy a couple of shades and figure it out on my own because no one was properly matching me. It's really an issue of poor customer care I guess. I'm a hair stylist and when someone comes in for color I have to create a formula for their hair color. I mix and create something for them based on what they want, I don't just slap on colors straight from the tube. I think that's what makes people good at what they do... knowing the products that are sold and knowing how to get what people want/need. Anyways, rant over. lol

I also have reddness in my face, and I'm NC. Mostly this bothers just myself, but years ago I do remember some (non-Mac) MA recommending me a pinky foundation. My other problem is that my face is darker than the rest of my body. I tend to match foundation to my face rather that neck or chest and stick with NC20. I many cases NC15 products just look so yellow, too yellow for me.

You missed the part where I said I haven't even swatched AP.

I think I just like to collect pretty things. I do like a deeper red so Runaway may still be in the cards. I wish I would have backed up Strong Woman, too. I like it better than Heroine. I haven't worn it in a long while though. The weather has changed so I'll be reaching for it in the coming days.
the cco has over 50 runaway red

I wish my CCO had all of those. The only good one I saw was Runaway Red. I haven't seen anything from Temp. Rising yet, but I also haven't been scoping it out monthly so I probably missed some goodies.

Mine had RR too. I was surprised, but I passed on it. After swatching I didn't feel like I needed it. If they had 3N, I would have had to snatch that up.
Omg I thought you said it HAD 3n I was like omg will you get me one?! Lol Idk why I skipped making pretty. Probably because I was all pregnant and was all anti makeup lol

haha! if they did, i would've gotten you one. I wish. I want to work at a CCO for a little while to see the whole process of choosing what is available to order. I wonder how it works. Anyone know?

I skipped Making Pretty because I think I was broke, but I wanted 3N. You were anti makeup when you were pregnant? You must've just had that natural glow' and no need for makeup!

In my day it was Chestnut liner and Oh Baby l/g. Many ladies will testify to being sold that combo. I found my old l/g in my bathroom drawer the other day. It's old, but I don't want to throw it away for nostalgic reasons. However I've pitched several old MAC foundations. I'm weird.
