Can't we all just get along? We're practically targeting each other. There is a thread for anyone that may have suggestions, comments, concerns, etc. http://www.specktra.net/t/185282/options-for-mac-chat-section-of-specktra In the meantime can we get :eek:ntopic:
Yes, if you have feels about this issue, go post on that thread.

Is this a color I completely missed??? Lol. Wow....there has NEVER been a lipstick that MAC has made that I wanted that bad. Ever. I'm not mad at the eBay lister though...I'm almost mad at whoever is willing to pay that much for the lippie lol...until I remember that sometimes it must be nice to have that much money to be willing to throw it away that freely. To each their own but I sure couldn't do it!

That color is pretty, but it's not worth the 85$, I don't think any of them really are. . .no matter how badly I want it.

@PradaCandy, thanks for posting the maybelline lipsticks and comparison swatches. I can't find them where I live but plan to hit up a Rite Aid when I visit family for the upcoming holiday.

OK so are we posting the code for all collections or is it a RiRi Hearts MAC or item restock thing? I feel like there isn't any consistency. One minute it's we're posting XX is on C and the next we're posting exactly where and when the collection is initially stocked or items have been restocked. Since it is being pointed out that people are posting orders in this thread and that's not the right thing to do, someone tell us what is the right thing to do. it's frustrating and I feel like we're being attacked for posting the pre-ordering thing. I only posted what I ordered because I was pointing out that Nordstrom had mixed up images for the lipsticks. I was trying to be helpful, not trying to boost or brag about what I ordered or to tip off any lurkers. IIRC it was blurted out there before I even posted my order. Probably because there isn't any consistency. So please let us decide on what we're going to do.
I think the issue was that it was posted in the first place that the pre-order existed...not that you or anyone posted what they ordered. By that point it was already a dead deal because it was already announced and thanked and repeated numerous times. At this point if anyone is feeling any kind of way about getting called out they shouldn't because it's done. It's over with. It can't be taken back. From this point on I think people are just trying to say that maybe we should try to stick to the original plan, which was to use the code system. That system was never meant for just one release or collection so there never should have been any confusion over that. The whole point behind the code system was to keep lurkers at bay for ANY release or restock. No one should be attacking anyone and no one should be feeling attacked. At the end of the day it's really not that serious. This has really turned in to something far bigger than it should have, but hopefully it's cleared up at this point. Unless I missed something (if someone did attack you directly then I completely missed that and I'm sorry....you might need to address that person via PM and try to straighten it out. Might be the best way).
Word. This has now turned into a high school mean girls thread where people who are neither administrators nor moderators feel they have the right to tell other people that they're not allowed to post publicly available information on an internet forum and imply that those who mention that something is available are whores. Very nice. Firstly, the 'code' is so obvious that virtually anyone could figure it out on their own with very little effort, and secondly trying to suppress information that is freely available in the public domain by censoring others you have no right to attempt to control is both futile and objectionable on its own. I may be alone, but this nonsense takes all of the fun out of Specktra for me. I'm a grown woman, and I have no time for juvenile bullying or drama. The end doesn't justify the means.
I really don't see how anyone can be feeling "attacked" over this. We're just trying to help OTHER people on here have a higher chance at getting items. The whole high school drama comments and things like that I think are ridiculous and turn something that's not mean into sounding like something it's not. All we're trying to do is help community members have a chance with every collection. It's not a perfect system but what we have for now. Most members have been on board I don't see what's the deal with the negativity trying to help each other out and keep ebayers out. I was messages by fellow members to post a certain way I never felt attacked I felt hey if it helps why not? I've never had trouble with collections but when I see people super sad I feel like why not help them. Maybe someone needs to put it in perspective for me. How is helping other members being a clique? Or a bully?

I seem to have missed the big code debate in this thread (I know the code, but I mean I missed all the

) but I just have to add one thing to that discussion...

Disclaimer: This is no way represents how I feel about the whole "who should know the code" debate. This gif was just begging to be included in the discussion. Can't waste a perfect opportunity like that! And now, back to your regularly scheduled makeup addiction...

YYYYAAAAASSSSSS to the Mean Girls gif! I was looking forward to this when you said you'd post one in the RiRi Viva Glam thread, lol. (As the ChosenOne has stated, this in no way reflects how I feel about the code situation but I am always up for a good Mean Girls quote no matter the time or thread, lol.)

I'm relatively new to specktra (I qualify for the clearance bin) and try to contribute to the community on various threads/brands. But I have to ask (and there absolutely no shade): why do the Mac threads tend to have the "communication" issues? Is it because of the number of collections that Mac comes out with? Is it because Mac is relatively affordable so there are more people hunting for a limited number of items? I have to admit that I first heard about the Mac "drama" on another, non-Mac thread and came over to see what that meant. Once I saw what that meant, I was discouraged from joining specktra. However, since joining, I've "met" so many wonderful members that have been helpful to me and have encouraged me to give back. That's my two cents that no one asked me for. Lol.

Can we PLEASE let this issue die? Obviously, some don't want to participate...which is perfectly fine. I swear it seems like we get a flair up like this every other collection release

I never backtracked...LOL
It was a simple misunderstanding. Backtrack for what? I am grown. Yes I like new collections but I am also a mother/wife/employee/student so the way I view it is, I either get the lipstick or I don't. I don't come here enough (been a member almost 10 years, and under 500 posts), to read through all of these threads and figure out "oooh, don't say that because they lurkers are going to get it before we do". I get your theory. You really want the product but honestly, as I told you before, I don't have time to be secretive and remembering the little rules for lipstick. I hope I don't offend you ladies/gents with that statement but it is what it is. I have been purchasing this brand since 95 and I have never not gotten something I did not want. As I told you before, when I clearly didn't know you couldn't post your purchase or where you got it from, I had not read all of those pages in the thread. I had no idea of a system. I have never caused trouble here and it isn't worth it for me, for makeup.

I'm only guessing but it might be because the majority of the chatting happens in the MAC threads so the opportunity for conflict to happen is higher? Besides...we know the the old stereotype...that a group of women are bound to turn catty if they stay around each other too long. I guess if this is true then the virtual world should count too lol. But on a serious note...who knows? It just happens lol

Okay I was trying to quote but there's a stupid ad over the quote thing on mobile now Anyway I think there's a huge misunderstanding we all talk about our purchases.

Thanks for your response. Before joining speckta, I admittedly thought the "us" v. "them" ("them" defined as lurkers or short term members) was a little much. That said, now that I've interacted with folks, I definitely would prefer to help speckta members (newbies and veterans) get what they want. So I get that much of the "drama" is really based upon the community/relationships people have built. I guess that's another $0.02.

The only thing I can say for the code is its sad that something that was supposed to help members has become such an issue. Its not about cliques or mean girling, the majority of time if someone puts in effort they'll eventually get an item either through CP's, or Clearance Bin, or a month down the line.

It was simply, "Hey you want this item so here's your fair chance to get it on your own." Some folks want to protect their personal info and even if they want an item badly just aren't quite ready to hand out private information (it is the internet as others have said), others aren't on this website for 2-3 weeks down the line to be able to stalk. It was just easier for that single week when the item is expected to launch to have an easy way for members to know where and when.

I think folks who felt excluded blew up the issue and ended up contributing to confusion and hurt feelings. In my mind it was kind of like going to the deli section and taking a number. You end up placing your order before the person who just walks up to the counter because you already had your number. No grand mafia scheme.

Happy makeup errbody! May everybody get what they want and this drama slip away, folks took it all too personally.
