(looking at this post like WTH) LOL! Looks like the Battle of Gettysburg in here!
LOL? Have a feeling this thread will be locked
OMG! I don't know what happened here. Mom got a new computer & it's being a b!tch trying to figure out how to operate it. Whatever happened here, I do hope we can move on and get back to makeup talk. You guys are like a family to me, so I hope nothing too bad happened. Maybe just a misinterpretation? I don't know. I apologize. I can't go back to read all the posts and it may be better I don't.

:shrugs: I don't know...this whole thing spiraled out of control quickly. The code had been mentioned before this thread too but for whatever reason the stars were aligned just right for this one to become Armageddon lol. So either way, lurkers that are pros at lurking around here probably knew something existed because it's been mentioned as recently as the whole "let's PM everybody when a restock of the RiRi Fall items or Retro Matte items come back up" discussions. Not to be flippant about it or anything but...

Can't change what's already out there so all anyone can do is move on and call it a day. It would be nice if it could private I guess but I think there was an issue with the logistics behind trying to do that. I think a link for ideas surrounding that or any other suggestions has been posted? I haven't visited it but I think that's what it was supposed to be for (correct me if I'm wrong please).
There is a link I'm not sure how to post it it's the Mac Chat thread it has suggestions regarding this section of the site. I hope I didn't come off as hostile or exclusive that wasn't my intention. In the end it's all just makeup and it should be fun.

No Specktra member should have felt excluded re: the code, system, etc.. When I saw it mentioned in a thread, I pm'ed someone and was almost immediately pm'ed back with info. I have spread the word to other members who inquired about it. It wasn't exclusionary of members IMHO; it was created as a way to actually protect members who wanted to get a chance to purchase items before they were sucked up by resellers. Let's face it; the MAC "game" of releasing LE products has grown tremendously in the past year and certain people have seized upon that knowledge to make a lucrative business out of reselling on eBay. Anyone who was up stalking the Fall Riri Collection when it released on the department store sites knows what I am talking about; items were selling out in a matter of minutes. In my five years of collecting MAC, I have never seen anything like it. I was lucky to get anything from the collection. The system was an attempt at letting fellow Specktra members get these items before the lurkers/resellers did. Not a means to be cliquish, bullies etc.. Nobody will bite anyone's head off if they want to know what it is; that didn't happen to me when I inquired about it. I'm truly sorry to any members who felt or feel that way. But it was devised as a way to help all of us have a fair shot at getting the makeup we love and want. That's all, and again, imho, is not inherently a bad thing.
People DID or do feel excluded because the "code" was not shared with ALL members. Someone behind the curtain was making a decision of who gets it and who did not, totally setting aside the issue of Lurkers. Members we're pushed aside, written off, and were excluded from The "Code Sorority." If all members were given the code this would NOT be an issue or if the chat area was private. IMHO. I wasn't given the code and I was not not given a reason why. Am I considered a lurker or someone who will buy merchandise and sell it on EBay at 560% markup????? For those who do not know me I am NOT and would not do that. I despise folks who do that but unfortunately it is not against the law sorry to say.

There in lies the problem with the "you're in and you're out," "we like you and we don't like you," and the " you get the code and you can't." It's the us against them mentality. It is very childish and very high school and most of all cliquish. It's not fair. It reminds me of a group of folks sitting around a dinner table and everyone is speaking BUT some people are speaking French, some English and some whatever ( you get the point). You run into a situation where people who are supposed to be talking with each other are speaking over each other, about each other, and around each other. Is this how grown adults are supposed to behave and over $&@% makeup. The folks who broke the unspoken code or were unaware of it because they did not get it, let's forgive them and move on. One possible suggestion: When ladies join Spectra, they should receive an email outlining all of the dos and donts of what to say and what to post. An etiquette guide for Spectra. That way people won't have to receive nasty PMs and condescending post to what they write. It's simple: when folks know better, they do better. It's not fair to guess or learn by trial and error and be castigated for doing so. That's my two cents. Let's work together, not against each other. Let's help each other and not refer to people as w$&@. No one who "broke the rules" did so out of malice. In fact, an email or notice should go out to everyone today or tomorrow reminding folks that if you come across a store (online or retail) that has a restock of this or leftover stock of that to ALWAYS ask members to PM you for the details. It sounds simple but maybe the lesson in all of this is that it bears repeating because some may have forgotten. Maybe it can be a disclaimer on every page at the very top or on the right hand side. Okay. I'm going to get off of my soapbox.
The only reason an official email wouldn't go out when someone joins Spectra that has info related to what you mentioned (as it relates solely to this situation) is because none of this is part of a Spectra sponsored or endorsed rule. It was purely member generated (a moderator helped get the word out by PMing people but she posted that if she missed anybody let her know) so...as great as that idea is, unless Spectra incorporates it into part of their official rules of etiquette then chances are an email at sign up won't happen. And please....I'm not trying to be an ass here but I'm honestly thinking I am missing something here. Where was the malice? Where was the actual mean girl stuff? If people are sending stuff via PM then report it because that's ridiculous and cowardly. But I mean on the threads. I keep seeing references to cliques, mean girls, malice....all of this stuff that implies all of this really cruel and hostile stuff is going on. If it is has anyone reported it? Has there been threats? Actual name calling? These are real questions that I am asking because I scan through here from my phone most of the time so maybe I am missing stuff. But what I assume is that feelings are hurt (although some say that they aren't...so if you feel that yours aren't then don't take this comment to heart) because they feel like they were called out for not being a part of what some members initially agreed or tried to agree to do. And because something was said by numerous members or said numerous times some people may have felt like they were being attacked. Yes? No? Was it more than that going on that I completely missed? If so PLEASE REPORT IT. Don't waste time and thread space e-fighting over nonsense when it's really not that serious. It's all amusing to see the gifs and hear the references to mean girls and stuff but let's be real...unless you're fresh out of high school if you're still letting the "mean girls" of life get to you enough to even acknowledge them then you're letting them win...no matter what words you choose to type after the fact. And if any one takes offense to THAT comment...I'd be lying if I said I'm sorry. I stand behind it completely.

I don't think I want the Hautecore I pre-ordered. I jumped the gun and I am disappointed in the swatches. I will know for sure when I see more swatches but it's probably a bust for me. I will gladly CP or swap it with someone if you miss out.

Did you PM anyone? There isn't a committee set up to automatically issue the code or anything. People were missed...even long time members. So when it was initially set up the moderator that initially helped spread the word (you may or may not have been a member yet...not sure) posted a message saying that if anyone was left out let her know. There are a lot of us on this forum so to try and individually PM each person without missing anyone is impossible. Now if you PM'd and were denied (were you fairly new...signed up recently...weren't even eligible for the clearance bin for example) maybe that was why? If that wasn't the case then I'm not sure...only the person you reached out to could answer that question. Instead of getting upset and automatically calling it a "Code Sorority" issue consider the fact that there may just be an actual threshold behind it. If there wasn't then what would be the point? Lurkers would just sign up and then immediately get the code. Same as the clearance bin situation. Is that a "Clearance Bin Sorority" because there are requirements before you are allowed to enter? I'm not trying to be mean or anything but wow...it's easier to understand someone being upset if you know the whole story first. Right now...all I know is that you're angry because you're not included but I'm not sure if you're excluded intentionally or if it's an oversight.

Yes, [@]butterflyeyes[/@]! Thank you, Jesus! Please take her advice, ladies. Report anyone who said something out of order instead of complaining on this thread. Back to topic, por favor!

Same here it doesn't look opaque and it appears to apply patchy I'm disappointed. I've heard Mufe #50 rouge Artist Intense is a good opaque black but it's more of a satin finish you may want to look into that one.

Thanks, I may or may not check it out. If I'm really honest with myself, I don't know how many times I will actually wear a black lippie. LOL

I was a little disappointed in T's swatch too but I've learned not to completely rely on it. I've had things apply differently than they did on her swatches so I'm holding out hope. Worse case scenario I'll layer it. I found a black NYX lip liner that I need to go back and get (should have got it when I saw it yesterday).

Yes no one was excluded on purpose people were just missed. I sent out lots of PMs explaining the code to anyone who asked including you so I don't see how you still feel this was a clique. There's a ton of members and some were missed it was accidental and only one person doing the majority of PMing. Like I've said it wasn't a bulky mechanism or a you can have this you can't. Have you looked at the friends and family sephora code thread? A bunch of LURKERS comments strictly to ask for the discount. No other posts before or sense. Like you said it's like we're at dinner but I think you hVe the wrong picture. We're a family who all speaks the same language just some people arrive late to dinner mid conversation and don't fully understand what's going on, but are more than welcome to join in. The lurkers are the strangers who our just letting themselves right on in to join our dinner. I'm not sure who's sending mean messages that should be addressed and is a separate issue. this was just a huge misunderstanding and I'll be the first to say sorry if I ever came off as rude that was not my intention. It truly was an idea to help each other by a fellow member not make us fight. We need a big group hug in here!

I missed these multiple posts then, my apologies. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with everything here. Thank you for clarifying, from the outside looking in it seemed like some sort of clique was formed overnight and it left me feeling a little put off. I understood that we all came up with the idea if someone came up with idea of pming someone if they know who has what they're looking for instead of blurting it out on the threads. Now it seems like it's more than that with collection info only being shared through pm (again Heroine thread for reference). I wish to be included in the loop but sometimes I feel like a nuisance by pming someone who probably has an inbox full of people asking the same question.
Don't feel awkward---if there's someone with whom you feel comfortable, just PM them! Again, it's just a methodology employed to assure Specktra members, who we
can assume are all makeup enthusiasts (AKA addicts) get the products that they want!
