I'll have to say, I've been moving away from black liner for a while, at least since this past year. I've been LOVING a look with a mid-tone liner like Midnight Snack or Added Goodness, or lately Deliciously Rich, where I still wing it out and use a very neutral shadow along with it that's slightly warmer in tone, then just use plenty of black mascara on the upper lashes. I pair it with a strong lip like FOD! This eye look is nice with a more enhanced blush, like Ripe For Love or Blazingly Haute, and keep the lips nearly bare, with just some balm. It's a punchy look, but very soft compared to the more 60's retro of black liner. The glitter or shimmer in something like Deliciously Rich or Stares & Speculations works on the upper lid in that context very well (although if I add shadow, I tend to stick to something more matte or with slight sheen). However, It's Physical is a bit darker than stuff like Added Goodness, S&S, etc.
plus it's totally matte - no shimmer or glitter at all. So that's exciting!! It's totally dark enough for the upper lash line, if you're not planning on wearing false lashes or strong eyeshadow along with it…at least for fairer skins. Then, you have to take into account that the shade is a smashing blend of brown and purple that will look AMAZE-BALLS smudged on the lower lash line or all around the eye, including on deeper skin tones. That way will create just the perfect shadowy look, without getting all smoked out. Just an amazing near-neutral, that's better than a plain neutral all around. Can you tell I'm crazy excited for it?
When I saw the swatch, it jumped out at me like a magical makeup unicorn! If you're trying to be conservative about how much you buy, go check it out in person first. You'll easily be able to see if this is something you will go bananas about or not. I know I sure had an immediate response to it….
