Alright. I finally had the chance to play with Punk Couture today. I absolutely LOVE the color!
It's like a darker matte version of my beloved YSL
N°39 Pourpre Divin. I tried it with 5 lip pencils.
Hi-Def Cyan = Just for the fun of it. The blue color creates a cool effect.
NYX Prune = Prune is a much lighter purple than Punk Couture, but it's still a cool toned purple. I like it because it helps to define the lips while also softening the color a bit. It creates a nice soft edge if you feel Punk Couture is too harsh or dark on its own.
MAC Currant = My go to liner for most of my purple lipsticks. I have to say I won't pair it with Punk Couture in the future. Currant is too red and alters the cooler grape purple color of the lipstick too much for my liking. I imagine the red plum color it created is what Instigator looks like based on the pics in this thread. I won't know for sure until mine is delivered tomorrow to compare.
MAC Nightmoth = Just straight up vampy! Nightmoth blackens Punk Couture to a very a deep plum purple. I probably wouldn't use Nightmoth either just because I want to stay closer to the original color.
MAC Stone = Paired it out of curiosity and since it was mentioned in this thread. Has a similar softening effect like Prune, but also lightens and adds a grey tint. I like it. This may be office safe because the color is toned down a bit. If you don't want to shell out $15 for Stone, NYX 1000 Years is a close dupe. 1000 Years is just more grey. Stone has a very slight purple/taupe tint to it.
I ordered Rich Purple, but it hasn't been delivered yet. This makes me wish even more that MAC repromotes Grape lip pencil. The majority of my purple lip pencils are all red based.
BONUS: YSL Pourpre Divin layered over Punk Couture = Purple Perfection!
Lol! That would make a great name for a purple lipstick.
