Either the expert face or the contour brushWhich RT brush are you using?
@Erine Yes I agree I cringe too .. I tried it one time on myself and it looked off it looked like my face was dirty or something I hated. As it is I can't contour for the life of me and trying it with bronzer made it more unpleasant for me. What would you suggest for my NC30-NC35 skin? I had a Mac MA suggest for me to use Harmony blush to contour what do u think?? I do need that ITA brush my lifeOnly powders. This brush is sooo fine, liquids will weigh it down. I'd suggest mac's 163, but again, i wouldn't suggest a concealer to contour with, as the colour doesn't give the right effects needed for a proper contour. I'd say either shadester or shadowy. I'm leaning more toward shadester with a heavy hand or shadowy with a lighter hand, depending on the brush and desired result. You wanna use something grey-toned in colour for contouring. The problem with foundations and concealers is that they are skin-tone in colour, and bronzers are warm, creating the illusion of a sunkissed glow (warm) on the high plains of the face in the E3 shape and are used instead of contouring/highlighting. Contouring creates shadows (grey) in the hollows of the face. I'm not a fan of using foundations/concealers for anything other than what they are-foundations and concealers. There's a reason contour and highlighting products exist-to be used  MAC has contour and highlight powders, as does Anastasia and i believe BH Cosmetics. I'm sure other brands do too. You can use matte highlights or shimmer, but a contour colour must always be matte! Any form of shimmer and you lose any bit of depth you were trying to create. Marry me cuz of the bolded! :bouquet: Thank you!!! You never want a warm colour for a contour. Does it look bad? No. Does it look off? Definitely! Here's one way to look at it. Why do we use a warm colour to bronze on the high points of the face (E3-forehead, cheekbones, jawline-different placement than contouring btw)? Now, why would we wanna use that same colour to create depth? And yes, i use sculpt when i contour, which is very rarely! I prefer to highlight personally. For you I think Shadowy may be too dark, so id check out that I'd check out that and shadester as well. It all depends on the brush you use and how intense you want it. And i cringe every time!
I don't know whether to get Pleasure Model or not...
Have you tried it out in store? And $25 seems like a lot for a blush I'm not sure about...
I haven't. I feel like things usually look so different on inside the store than in real life. Maybe I'll go check it out again soonHave you tried it out in store?
Actually try it on and then leave the store with it on...check how it looks in natural light. Never rely solely on how something looks in artificial store lighting.I haven't. I feel like things usually look so different on inside the store than in real life. Maybe I'll go check it out again soon
Thank you. I don't have the contour but I'll try my expert.Either the expert face or the contour brushWhich RT brush are you using?
I really like the contour cream MAC came out with earlier this year, I'm using coffee walnut. Not sure what I'll use when I run out.Agree w rocksteadybaby and erine1881... But I have yet to find a contouring powder I'm comfy with... Been lately working with the Mac shadesticks from surf baby since they're the only matte like bronzer thing I have....
I totally agree!! I've learned from that mistakeActually try it on and then leave the store with it on...check how it looks in natural light. Never rely solely on how something looks in artificial store lighting.

Yup!! Girl needs her own thread By the looks of your profile pic you got contouring skills on point .I swear Erin needs her own "Ask Erin" thread because if I hadn't come in here I would have missed this contouring "tutorial" from our resident makeup guru. You are THE best! I've been contouring and I'm pretty sure I have the technique down, but it never seems to show up on me. Like all of my work kind of disappears once I add my setting powder, and it looks like I haven't done any contouring at all. I feel like I spend all of that time doing it only for it to just disappear. Erin how can I get my contouring to not disappear? What am I doing wrong? I too am an NC50 for reference. I use the Sleek Face Form in dark, not just a matte blush, so I'm using a powder meant for contouring. I know you're a mac girl, so here's a link to what I'm talking about just so you can see it: http://www.sleekmakeup.com/face-form-contour-dark Should I set my foundation, THEN contour? And so as not to hijack the thread, lemme get back to why I came here... . I used MA today, just to test it out. I loved the glow it gave my cheekbones, but since I had someone waiting on me, I needed to hurry the heck up, so I wasn't able to really build it to see what it could really do. I also didn't like the brush I used to apply it. My 128 brush is sitting in the mailroom at my job, I'll get it on Monday. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture, I was being RUSHED!
