Preach. Before all that plastic surgery Kim had a face shape that needed a little pop for her to have all that cheekbones and structure. I think a lot of folks don't need more makeup but just makeup that works better for their skin needs. Instead of taking time to do the drag Queen highlight and contour and the Kim Kardashian yellow triangles of doom concealer. AND YESSSS to the nose. I like watching yt makeup vids (watching makeup be applied sooths me, LMAO

) and the one part that always gets a side eye from me is when people contour their noses. I can't handle the skinny penis nose they give themselves (

THANK YOU @erine1881 and @Yazmin !

@Icecaramellatte I did a search for it to see of they had it online anywhere and the image search showed a shorter version and a longer version. @Yazmin said that the shorter version is still available. I guess it comes down to personal preference and hand size? I'll take the smaller one, as long as it does its job.

Another neat tip I heard was a makeup artist say for women that struggle with contouring he focuses on highlighting. I've tried it and I gotta say it definitely works. When I do it I skip contouring and instead double up on highlighter, first using a matte lighter shade to create the illusion of cheekbones or a shelf and then going right on the corner of it with a shimmery highlighter. The effect makes the cheeks look more pronounced and in turn making the other parts of the cheek look more withdrawn. Just my 2 cents.
I say the exact same thing!!! Contouring can be too much for an everyday look, but highlighting is very suitable (depending on the product used of coursed). Contouring should be used for more nighttime events or when a more extreme look is desired. But, highlighting is so much easier to do too, and is harder to mess up! I save the contouring for more dramatic, nighttime events, and i highlight every day of my life!

I will say this for any WOC, I've been playing around with Graftobian Powder foundations and depending on your skin tone a lot of them would work excellently as contour shades. They're natural enough in skin tone that you're not pulling a Lindsey Lohan but if you go slightly darker you do manage to get a nice cool/gray touch that blends in seamlessly. I fully believe Erine will steer everyone in the right direction with this but its something I've observed in looking for that perfect grey tone that doesn't pull too ashy and look unnatural.

Kim K and her banana powder are ruining things for the rest of us who could care less about her or about LOOKING like her. Yellow Triangles of Doom! I can't! LOL!

Thanks Erin! Much appreciated. I actually LOVE to contour, I want to perfect it, I just think it really pulls the face together, when done CORRECTLY. Nothing too dramatic, I'm just going to work. I don't watch many YT tutorials, I just kind of let my own face tell me where things should go. Because some of these so called gurus of youtube be doing THE MOST.

I had considered contouring with cream instead of the powder because I was having such a hard time getting it to show up. And Spectacular, thanks for the suggestion for the Graftobian foundations, I'll check those out as well.

My highlighting is another story altogether. I want that glowy highlight, but all I see is shim shim shimma when I'm through no matter what highlighter I use. I think it's my application that needs work, I'm still trying to find the right brush for me. Spectacular what are you highlighting with?

Just a random note, if anyone is interested in Amorous Alloy, Antiqued from MAC is very similar! I returned my Amorous Alloy because I have Antiqued.

I should have said wider (referring to the #28 Ita) rather than larger. That's the discontinued brush I was referring to. My NARS just happened to get a random small shipment of them a couple months back and I picked up two. When I called them last week to inquire about the status of Train Bleu, the SA confirmed they still had the smaller brush (on the left) in stock.

Its terribly bitchy of me but there's one 'guru' I watch specifically because she does the MOST and a half. Its amazing. I'm always wincing by the end of her videos praying folks don't take her tips to heart, but Lord its amazing to watch the show, lol.

In terms of product my fave that I've been using for years is actually Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer, just by the name its supposed to be a bronzer but I've found the two tones work so nicely on WOC. Instead of being warm or reddish they lean tan and gold. I myself use the paler shade during the winter and the golden shade during summer. Both shades are pigmented with very little shim shim shimma (perfect description, lol) so that its just that perfect hint of highlighting rather than "Shine bright like a diamond!" Hope this helps!

OMG I MUST know who this person is, I'm so curious!

This thread has taken a turn! I hope no one is too upset, but there are some great gems of makeup here, I hope even if folks haven't commented they're getting some useful info. I know I am. Thanks ladies!

I just caught up lol. Yea what people don't get is that nobody's face is exactly the same as others and the contouring won't be the same on the same faces as you see on yt.... I agree w the highlighting... It's easier and quicker and fool proof for the most part. I try to dabble in contouring and recently got a haku brush that I think has me performing better at it lol. Who's this guru were talking about now! Someone let me in the scoop please !
