I just caught up lol. Yea what people don't get is that nobody's face is exactly the same as others and the contouring won't be the same on the same faces as you see on yt.... I agree w the highlighting... It's easier and quicker and fool proof for the most part. I try to dabble in contouring and recently got a haku brush that I think has me performing better at it lol. Who's this guru were talking about now! Someone let me in the scoop please !
Exactly my point! If you have a heart shaped faced, you're not gonna want to contour your jawline. If you have a triangular face, you don't want to contour your temples. If you have a short face, avoid the the chin and forehead. But I've yet to see a YT person do anything beside the Kim K contour, and that's all i get asked to do when i do makeup (when i worked at MAC, when i do weddings, photoshoots, etc.). It's crazy!

Why did I just watch this w the fiancé and he says if he would have to wait for me to put my makeup on for 2 hours and I come out looking like that he's leaving me home. I legit feel bad tho... That much goop on someone skin has got to take a toll at some point ...

hmmm.... saw the video.. IDK, when she first got started, I was thinking "is this for real"... but when I fast forwarded through it and saw the whole look with the outfit... it works for her. I kinda liked her look, for her. Too much makeup for me, but would work in a dark club/rave environment.... she obviously wasn't going to work....

I think we have a small window to be outrageous with hair, makeup, and clothes, unless that's just your style, and i think ppl should go for it. be bold, be daring, be you... Now whether or not she contoured correctly... who cares... she isn't doing my makeup, and she likes how she looks.

Yeah it suits her personality pretty well, although I did laugh at the spray tan bath at the end (and the cheetah pumps). She was really pretty with a totally bare face, though. I'd love to see someone like her with very natural, glowy looks with maybe one or two outrageous elements and the rest really stripped down. I kind of liked her crazy brows (which I normally hate). If she'd done a naked look face with those brows and some awesome lips, that would have been a great look for her.

I can see why she goes through her pots of Clarity though - man, I'd use that much shadow in 4 whole look's worth.

What kills me is they're usually done by very young, cute or even beautiful girls who 100% do not need all that heavy foundation and powder and crazy fake lashes. I keep hoping I'll find some youtube makeup people that do really high fashion, runway or experimental looks to suit their youth and cuteness. Hindsight is 50/50, I guess, lol!

Honestly, for me, Youtubers talk to much. Especially during reviews... just show me the swatches.. I don't care about your day or your random ramblings. There is a tech ytber that I love. He is quick, to the point, and very succinct. I wish all youtubers were like him. . and with "tutorials" I can't really "see" the technique. How to actually use the brush. This was more important for me when I was starting out. I couldn't figure out how to hold or work with brushes.
I look at tutorials now for color combo ideas. (I wish we did that more here). I like to see how ppl are wearing their makeup.

But I agree, there are a lot of pretty youtubers who don't need makeup at all... but I get that it is fun.. I honestly don't have patience to watch most of them though. Longer than 10 minutes? I'm not sitting through that...

Is it correct since I have a Oval face I don't really need to worry about contouring? Just highlight Forehead , above cheekbones and chin?

Just finally getting caught up on this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the Kim K contour a bit much. Some people contour so much that can't be recognized barefaced. Makes me cringe

All of these look wonderful on you. What foundation shade do you wear?

I just called the Nars Bleecker Street store about this brush. They said another shipment is due in next week. I don't know if you just want a dupe or if you were settling for one because you couldn't find the Nars one. But if it is the latter, more are on the way.

So sorry I didn't get back to you but I kind of forgot.

You just might be on to something. No pics but swatched on my hand Overspiced was slightly lighter and peachier. Then I put 1 swipe of Overspiced on my top lip and 1 swipe of Revealing on my bottom lip. Revealing went on much more opaque than Overspice but when I did another swipe of Overspiced on my top lip both lips matched very well. There may just be very little difference on the lips itself so maybe Overspiced may be what you are looking for.

I'm glad I dug up this gloss for you. I can not believe how many of these creamy nude glosses I have. I really need to stop buying these type of glosses. But when it is perfect, it is just

.
Thank you SOOOO MUCH for that @Icecaramellatte!! I was really hoping you would come back with a description like this. This will finally put my mind at ease with this search for revealing. And this was right on time because I just came back from Time Square and picked up some more glosses from this collection and was wondering whether or not I should pick up another OS L/G. It looks like I'll be going back for a BU of it. So far the L/G's from this collection have been a hit for me with SK, OMD and OS.

On a corrective basis, this is somewhat correct. An oval face shape is the "ideal" shape, so it really doesn't need anything. However, certain parts of the face not pertaining to your face shape may be contoured. A tall forehead, a wide or long nose, under cheekbones, under the bottom lip-these can all be contoured. Areas that can be highlighted are a narrow nose, short forehead, cupids bow, tops of cheekbones, browbones. But again, these too depend on the individual. If someone has really prominent browbones, you don't wanna highlight them just cuz you can. You have to look at both the individual feature AND the face as a whole. Does that help?

So, since we're on this contouring subject now... I don't personally do it, I feel too "fake" if that makes sense, lol, plus I'm sure I suck at it.

 See what happens when we have no new info! I'm sure you don't suck. But i agree, I'm not much of a fan of it either. Not that highlighting looks more natural, but it's more foolproof.

I thought I was the only one that feels that way. Everytime I contour I think "You know, you're just fooling yourself and other people right now." and I don't feel like me anymore if I contour too much. A bit contouring (the cheekbones in my case) is good, but like hell I'm gonna start contouring my temples, jawline and - most of all - my nose.

@Erine Yes I agree I cringe too .. I tried it one time on myself and it looked off it looked like my face was dirty or something I hated. As it is I can't contour for the life of me and trying it with bronzer made it more unpleasant for me. What would you suggest for my NC30-NC35 skin? I had a Mac MA suggest for me to use Harmony blush to contour what do u think?? I do need that ITA brush my life :)
I know this wasn't for me but I am also NC 30-35 and I really like Macs sculpting powder in Shadester. A little goes a long way and is very easy to build and blend.
