Tom Ford Beauty Discussion

I got Paradiso and Summer Fling. Loving both of the shades but somehow they leave my lips dry after they fade. I almost never have sensitivity to lip products, so it was rather unexpected. Anyone else having that?  I also had time to play with the nail polishes, they have all nice formula, cream jelly finishes of peach and pink appear sheer but on my nails I could get full coverage in two coats. My favorite is the nude one, because it is rather unique to my stash. Rose Gold one is nice but very close to Chanel Delight from Summer 2012, in case you have it, you may want to skip. Here are comparisons & swatches: http://www.colormeloud.com/2014/02/tom-ford-nail-lacquer-01-sugar-dune-02.html
Great review! I like Sugar Dune and Incandescent. I missed Delight but I have LPRN, so maybe I am not justified to get Incandescent. Not sure if Sugar Dune will look good on my yellow undertones. It looks unique. Is Coral Beach like Dior Spring Ball (shimmery)? I hav3 Rose Insolent and is happy to pass Indiscretion.

Glad it was helpful. Yes Coral Beach is very close to Dior Spring Ball. While I was going through polishes, I have noticed this too but then since it was shimmery, didn't include in the comparison.

Incandescent has a very different finish compared to LPRN, like foil. I am crazy about foils so for me any good foil is better than metallic/pearly finish but maybe you like the other one more... I think Sugar Dune should work on your skin tone, it is not very cool, less grey if that makes sense.

By the way today I tried lipsticks again. Summer Fling doesn't make my lips dry, Paradiso does! I think it is because it is more of a matte... Anyone else having similar problem here? It looks like I am the odd one out and read everyday people ordering the whole range of lipsticks,

Those were the 2 I got, although I haven't received my Sugar Dune yet. This is the review that persuaded me on it:

Not looking forward to the large snowstorm headed my way, I decided to head for my Tom Ford counter. I came home with the Orchid Haze quad, and summer fling. I am seriously thinking of backing up bittersweet, somebody please talk me out of it!

Lol, great excuse for shopping, I am sure you will love Orchid Haze, that one is truly exceptional. As for the lipstick, there will be more releases and remember the last time you finished a lipstick :p

Thanks I needed that! (I have a train case filled with back ups) By the way, I love your blog, your swatches are always spot on and I love that you are willing to show us a complete look. I'm sure it's all very time consuming! It is greatly appreciated by all of us that share a passion for cosmetics! I LOVED your Tom Ford eye shadow quad posts. I also ordered belladonna the minute I saw it on you blog. Love it!!( I have an obsession for plummy lipsticks)

Thanks so much, really means a lot to me since i am sometimes struggling with harsh "not that constructive " comments too, it makes my day to hear that my effort is at least helpful to some :):bouquet: You got Belladonna and you have Bittersweet?:eyelove: Could you post swatches of these two together or explain how they compare? I am also crazy about plum lippies and Buttersweet was my first choice but my friend said it looked brown so I decided not to get it, is it more brown that belladonna? Am I missing something? Lol.

This review also has me eyeing Sugar Dune. I haven't taken the plunge yet. Maybe I will order it during NM's beauty extravaganza starting the 19th - even though I am not a huge NM fan I do like getting perks and samples.

Bittersweet does have alot more brown in it. My lips are quite pigmented (a very rosy mauve) so it does pull more plum on me. Belladonna has almost a grey lavender cast to it, is much cooler, and has quite a bit more slip to it . They are very different when you swatch them. I'm looking at them on my hand which is very pale. I think the pigment in your lips will always make a big difference in how a lipstick will look. I think bittersweet is closer to ambigue by Chanel. Okay, I just swatched ambigue and bittersweet and they are really close. They look almost identical on my hand! Ambigue might be just slightly cooler. Farouche is darker and browner than both. I just checked out charactere and that has more rose in it than bittersweet. Now i am really glad that I did not back up bittersweet because I did back up ambigue! Thank you for asking because I didn't realize that! Anyway bittersweet and belladonna are quite different. I like them both! Plum toned lip pies make me very happy! Armani has superb plums and mauves. :)

Oh now I feel like I found my lost lipstick sister lol! Thanks so much for the comparisons.

I also have rosy mauve lips and every lipstick looks darker on me, like pinks look like neon from time to time. Nudes may look like I concealed my lips.
Anyway I don't know if you have a similar effect but Ambigue is like all time favorite for me. I also own and like Charactere and Culte.
Farouche though is too brown for me, but what I like most about Ambigue is the pink sheen on it, like the duo chrome effect it has. Does Bittersweet have it too?
By the way Ambigue is perm here in Europe.

Bittersweet does have that same duo chrome effect as ambigue. Not quite the same pink sheen though. I love it with just a little clear gloss on the bottom lip. I get that same neon problem with certain pinks. Other plums you would probably love are chanel cavalier my all time favorite, now sadly discontinued), Cle de peau blackberry crush is gorgeous, laura mercer black orchid and of course Tom Ford's black orchid. Chantecaille damask is lovely as well. I don't have too much of a problem, do I?

Oh then I NEED Bittersweet...
I didn't know of Laura Mercier Black Orchid, from which line of lipsticks is that?
Some of those brands are not available here (Chantecaille and Cle de Peau) and over the years because of the strange pigmentation on my lips, I developed a custom of not buying a lipstick before trying. For TF Summer/Spring I decided looking at the pictures though because those didn't arrive to the small TF counter we have here.
Thanks so much for your lippie advices, super helpful!

Laura mercier black orchid is part of her sheer stickgloss line. They look like a regular lipstick bullet, I don't know why they are called stick glosses. It looks like a deeper version of belladonna. Beautifully glossy but does not slide off your lips. I was roaming around Sephora one day and discovered them. I have peony too.I don't normally gravitate towards her stuff but I do like them.

I ususally wear LM BO over any red or vampy colour matte ls to soften and keep the colour intact during the day.. it's a great moisturizer and can be worn alone. Much better than Clinique Black Honey imo.

there are various shades of these -- Peony is one, I use the natural colour a lot too - just over my matte lippies.

Let me jump on the Black Orchid love train. Alone, I love this for a soft take on a vampy lip, or to deepen another shade. Thanks for the tip on using it with a red or vampy matte, HerGreyness! I hadn't tried that, but now I'm going to for certain!

I received my lippies today & Paradiso is my fav out of the 2 I purchased (Incorrigible being the other) they are very pigmented & very creamy but not greasy...Incorrigible has shimmer although smooth & not really visible on the lips when you go to remove you see the glitter remnants on lips....Meh I'm glad to add a TF lipstick to my stash & now I want Flamingo....or the discontinued Pure Pink.....
Don't know if this helps, but I picked up Pure Pink from a CCO.

^^ Can't wait to hear what you think of them!
Miss QQ, I love Incandescent. It looks a lot nicer on me than Delight which was too gold for me, but Sugar Dune was very meh on my skin tone. I did also get Paradiso lip conditioner though and love it! Incorrigible was too gritty feeling on my lips (and also not a great shade for me).

I have Bittersweet and yes, as others have said, it pulls quite brown. I don't really see any plum in it at all on me. I joke that my lips must have a lot of blue in them because anything pink goes HOT pink on me and very cool. So if this didn't skew at least a little bit plum, I don't know that there's much of that shade in it at all. Love your blog, by the way!
