I used to love to tan in the summer because I never burn and can get really dark without spending too much time laying out. I decided to quit and haven't tanned in almost 8 years and I've learned to love my natural color. I've also spent a lot of money on my tattoos and will continue to get more, so I am not willing to have them fade just so I can be a few shades darker.

Don't be insecure. I find tanning to be just as disgusting as smoking. It's very unattractive and does horrible things to your skin. Embrace your skin for the colour it is! Like i said before, SPF doesn't prevent tanning.
I use it so it won't scar my skin even more then it already has especially with my acne scars

Yea I'm pretty pasty too! Doesn't bother me too much tho it use to but then when I saw what fake tanning did to my skin I was like no thank you I rather be pasty then have all these scars it dried my skin out real bad too! I sun tan a little in the summer but I put SPF on my face for sure!
I LOVE being so pale. At 54 I have no wrinkles from not tanning, avoiding the sun & wearing sunglasses

And, it makes my blushes & red lipsticks look amazing

I'm becoming more okay with being so pale...one of the main disadvantages though is how easily I get burnt. I could be outside for five minutes and get a sunburn. I try to cover myself in high SPF sunscreen, but I usually have to wear a shirt swimming and sit under a beach umbrella in the sun. I've had skin poisoning from sunburns a few times when I was younger and skin cancer runs in my family. I'm always jealous of my friends who can spend hours outside in the summer and just get tan!

I have not tanned since 1999. I get a bit of sun in the summer just because of where we live and what we do for fun but it is not intentional. I can't believe I used to bake myself daily in a tanning bed.

I totally understand. But when I hit 40 - everything changed. I changed my diet & I exercise & honestly its the best I've ever looked & felt ....& I don't post that in a weird or arrogant way. I actually look younger now than ever. Once you hit 40, everything changes...seriously....it was a real wakeup call for me. Your body just changes & you're like...who is this person

yes, i hate when people think im a Damn kid.
I hate that SO much! I'm very petite (5 ft, 105 lbs) so I understand I look a lot younger than I am, but people don't even believe that I could be at high school age sometimes. About two weeks ago I took my 15 year old sister to the doctor and they looked at me and said "she needs an adult present to sign this consent form." They made me pull out my license to show that I was an adult.

This happens with my kids. I come to my daughter's boobs. I am 5'1 and she is 5'8 or so. No one thinks I am their Mom or that I was 12 when they were born. I am like ummm NO!

Im gonna try that once i notice my body is changing. In no way you sound Arrogant. I admire many women that are able to keep their shape no matter what. Like Madonna her face is all Surgery But that Body OMG is pure Exercise and Diet. She looks Better than many women in their 20's including me

:agree:   So true. Same here. Although that can be annoying at times.
At 33, i don't mind people thinking I'm in my early 20s!

I completely agree! I have one other friend who, like me, doesn't tan, but all my other white friends tan like crazy, and think we're weird for not tanning. A friend of mine's mom was just diagnosed with skin cancer, and my poppo had skin cancer as well. The risks just aren't worth it. Plus, working with photographers, I've learned that tanned skinned doesn't photograph as well as the natural colour, whether it's light or dark. So i tell all my clients not to tan or use self tanner before shoots as it throws off their pics. In the end, it's just easier to embrace your natural skin.

I don't think looking younger than your age is a bad thing.. People think I'm still in high school. It used to annoy me but when I get older ill be grateful I have a baby face lol.i sound young too that's a pain though lol
