I would definitely recommend trying out the formula before you buy, but if you can't I would say it is an easy skip since the color isn't anything unique. MAC loves every shade of  red, so you won't have any trouble getting a gloss in the formula you like from the permanent range or a future collection.

I like the PLW lipglasses for the longevity and mine smells like kitkat wafers. I almost wanted to eat the dang thing.

You need one. I am a matte girl through and through. But playland has made me love amplifieds. Full color with one swipe, bold and pretty. And for me if I wear them for an hour they turn practically matte on me but still stay a little creamy.

I hate the PLW glosses. I'm fine with a bit of tackiness. I can handle the regular lipglasses and dazzleglasses. But i don't do the PLWs.

I like lipglasses. They stay on pretty well. Love the PLW lipglasses. They stay on like a soft, cushion-like dream! Dazzleglasses are indeed beautiful, but they have a tendency to tear apart a lip look. I like to layer and the Dazzleglass looks beautiful for less than 30 minutes, before it starts to make the look fall apart. The same goes with the Cremesheen, minus the pretty sparkle.

I like the lip glosses, cream sheens etc. For some reason the dazzle glass breaks my lips out. I have no idea why. They are so pretty.
