I agree :) Personally, I rather have a smaller well edited stash with good quality products than having huge variety. I used to buy stuff only because it was pretty, or unique, but most of it never got used, so that's why I'm low-buying and reducing my stash, which also makes me enjoy the products I do buy even more.
But I understand that other people like to play with colours and different looks, so it make sense that they buy more affordable brands.
I try to have a well edited stash, and it goes well for a little while then something fun and colorful comes out and I'm all gimme gimme! Thankfully I share a lot of what doesn't work on me with friends/family so they always encourage me to go ahead get it!

Either way! T, Karen and all of the other bloggers do their best! We may not agree with some things or grades or what have you! But they have the products and all the reviews should be taken like a grain of salt! The best reviews will come from yourself!

I was thinking the same thing about the T discussion after I said a few things and realized that I wasn't thinking about the whole picture. I honestly think part of where the issues come from is the fact that she is absolutely overwhelmed with the blog. It is her job and what supports her and her husband. She is under a lot of pressure to keep up with reviews/swatches because she is arguably the top beauty blog and someone will take her place if she starts slacking. If she had more time to play around with products to see if they would perform more to her liking, I think she would. Then again, most of the products she reviews more than likely end up being put away never to be seen again, so she has no desire to test them any further. I will say that her makeup application skills could be improved, but everyone has areas they could improve on.
Yep...but sadly there are also people out there who will completely tear others apart if they aren't perfect at everything.

That is so true. That's what is great about Specktra, too... we get so many different opinions and can make a much better judgment, but in the end... it's all about you!

Sure! That's hilarious!!! :haha: thanks! It's just a fatty felt tip eyeliner. :nods: KYY isn't gonna be any more special than the hundreds of others pinks we've seen MAC put out. If you've got others, KYY can be a skip.
Exact reason I am skipping KYY!

T has a LOT on her plate. That's for dang sure. No one can argue with that! Well, I'm sure some people could, but they'd be wrong. lol

Agreed :) It's always easy to criticize someone else, especially if you don't have to put your own pics and work on the internet.

T is a one trick pony when it comes to make up application. I give her credit for bold lip swatches. Often, she does pull them off beautifully. Her lips are made for those swatches. But anything that require a different way of applying, her skills just go down the drain. This becomes apparent in any products that require a light application. She piles it on. I actually had to laugh hard when I read that the powder of the MSF was sitting on her skin. Daaaaarling, it's called B-L-E-N-D-I-N-G.

While she usually excels at lip swatches, her skills are the worst when it comes to blush swatches (errrrgh blending????) and eye shadows. She only ever ever ever every knows one way how to use a quad. It almost looks like a stencil that she puts on her lid to apply the colors of a quad. Blending non existent. Monsy's example is just the living proof of it.

A lot has to do with her knowledge, or lack thereof, of using different brushes for different products. A stiffer blush like Sunset Beach requires a firm brush, otherwise the color pay-off is limited. A powdery MSF requires a very soft brush, otherwise it will be powder dust city. Using the wrong tools will make or break a product. Funny thing is that she has all those brushes, but she seems to only use one or a few at most. Sad, but true.

In the end, everybody has to make their own decisions. As always, it's best to swatch everything in person and/or find a skin twin and share information in the thread or via PM.

, and I'm not a fan of T either, but I feel like we have the same discussion with every collection that's released. While it's completely understandable to talk about the lighting, skintone, application etc when it comes to swatches, as well as disagreeing with someone's rating/reviews, I feel like it can get to a point where it's just bashing someone.
Thank you for saying what I have been thinking for months. Same discussion every collection. Some like T, others bash her for whatever reason, and some drink the Karen Kool-Aid. I get it! But must we do this every time a new collection comes out!

You hit the nail on the head for me. I have no ties to ANY blogger but all the negativity towards one did seem a little "unspecktra" like when they all their positives and negatives-so I really was wondering what people's perspectives were. I'm happy with all of their swatches really because I alway think like "what if nobody tested this stuff out? What if I had to buy this off the swatches from the company only?" It'd be a sad bunch of returns going on from me lol
If no one had swatches, I'd still know what I like and don't like! Swatches just help confirm for me!

So true. For me one's opnion is not worth more than someone elses, no matter if it's a blogger, a Specktra member or whoever. At the end of the day it's just an opinion and we all have one.
