I don't worry about what others are spending their money on and if they return things. At the end of the day, the company can always change their return policy and if they don't, not much anyone else can do about it. As someone who works retail part-time, I know the effects returns have on profit but, I also know that companies will always raise prices because they simply want to make more money.

I still hate it when people do that. It's shady imo.

True! I mean no matter what even if everyone stopped returning companies would still raise their prices!

They aren't helping by contributing, and I see it as a growing trend. Also, I don't want people to mess up returns for everyone else. I want to be able to return something if I need to. It's obnoxious the way people think they can just buy whatever they want and then return it all, especially if they are doing it just to get people to look at their blogs and YouTube channels. That kind of behavior is gross.

I don't think shady is the right word! If someone buys just to show off on youtube then I suppose it is shady. But for people who just return because they tried to make something work and it didn't then it isn't bad imo.

Oh yeah, I don't mean people like that, unless they are doing it constantly. However, I have seen people on YouTube trying stuff on in a collection for the first time, who bought almost everything, and they seriously say "yep, that's going back" after almost everything they try on. No One can tell me that isn't affecting prices, and those are just the people showing themselves on YouTube. I'm sure there are tons of people out there doing it.

I have no issues if they try it and it did not work. I think if you have doubts, buy in store if you can. I would rather see people swap, sell, or give it away. I think it is sick just how many people buy, then return for youtube and instagram followers. It is not just makeup but makeup can't be put back on the shelf like purses and shoes can.

I saw it IRL with the Chanel metallic boy bags for summer. Some chick bought 4. That was over 12k and did not keep a single one. She did not say that on her IG though or the forums she is on. I recognized her and did not say anything when she was returning all 4! I was just looking for some espadrilles and about crapped myself.

I just think it's really irresponsible behavior. I don't make a ton of money, and so I spend lots of time researching what I want and making sure something will work for me. Why do I even bother when I can just order it and send it back for them to throw away and give me my money back? Again... because it isn't responsible behavior.

I just picture sad music playing when people return all those lipsticks and they get thrown in the trash. Especially the LE ones...so sad

This kind of seals the deal for me skipping RH for sure. I don't have Cosmopop but I was hoping for a Mac alternative. I can cross it off my list. Maybe I'll pick up Melt cosmetics Summer instead. Still looking for that beautiful creamsicle color.

I don't really return makeup unless there is no way I can get it to work, but skincare is a big one for me. No matter how much research I have done, some products just don't agree with my sensitive skin. Samples really don't help because they only provide a few days worth of product, and it takes at least a week or two for the effects to be really known. I don't have too much of a problem returning it knowing that it's barely used and won't ever be used again.

Before I found specktra, I would return LE products because I didn't realize that they threw the products away (thought maybe they could give them to the MAs for their kits) and I didn't know people would want to buy them. Now I have a box of things that I am planning to sell or swap.

I don't own Summer (or any Melt lipsticks) but I saw it used in this red/creamsicle gradient look on Pinterest recently and it was just gorgeous!

I have sushi kiss which I love and its kinda creamsicle, but can pull a little more orange on me. I wonder how similar SK is compared to Summer and Cosmopop? Sad to see RH isn't what I was expecting.

I think SK is probably a little more orange. I haven't gotten around to wearing mine yet. It's one of my most recent purchases.
