Wonderful Haul! Did you just get Harmonie Du Soir too? How do you like Songe and Hesitation?

Okay. I may have found the culprit. I took Rivoli and Vendome with me on a week-long trip, and I applied them with my new Ecotools brushes. Just to check, I now applied Rivoli with my normal brushes (MAC etc.) on my right eye, and with Ecotools on left eye. Ecotools brushes aren't as dense, and the end result with them was slightly sheerer and noticeably more sparkly and glilttery, plus there was more fallout. I'm obviously better off using my regular brushes (though the Ecotools are quite good for blending). I still have to say that I think the top left shadow in Rivoli is a bit too sparkly for my liking under direct light (artificial or sunlight), which is a shame because it's such a pretty shade.Of the 4 palettes that I purchased, so far I've only used Poésie and the shadows were as smooth and buttery as ever, pigmentation was phenomenal and I was so
pleased with the outcome that I've worn the eye look for four consecutive days. I used an e/s primer as I normally do with any e/s. I've used Chanel IDO New Moon
as a base w/amazing results and MAC Eclair as a base w/the same good result. I expect to use my regular makeup brushes with the other palettes and hope that they
apply just as well because like you, I hate those little brushes that come with the palettes.
.
I have similar trouble with Dior actually. It swatches well but on my eyes, even with a primer, all that shows up is glitter. I found that a denser brush really helps. But not always. A nice firm one that "digs" into the palette and picks up the color is almost as good as the finger swatch...I got 3 of these palettes: Rivoli, Gabrielle and Vendome. They all swatch beautifully, but I can't get them to show up on my lids half as nicely. I've worn Rivoli and Vendome several times already, and they always apply sheer and somehow really sparkly. Especially Rivoli's top left shadow: in direct sunlight it's glittery and sparkly. Like actual glitter particles, not a fan of that at all!Perhaps I should try them with sponge applicators.... Gaaaahhh I hate those things so much.Gabrielle is the least shimmery out of these three. It's very beautiful, but I haven't worn it yet so I'm not sure about the color payoff.
I don't know how some of you get such vibrant looks with them, are you using sponge crapplicators or fingers or what? I have no such issues with MAC or Dior e/s and for this price I wasn't expecting to have any with Chanel either.
I am so glad you were able to determine it was an issue with your Ecotools brushes---hope your experience continues to improve as you continueOkay. I may have found the culprit. I also wasn't aware that these were baked e/s when I ordered them, and I have to admit those are not my favorite. Is the new formula in US also baked?
:-D No. Saks ought to put them up already!
Thanks, I need to look into those brushes. I like dense brushes and good color payoff.Hi everyone,
I would recommend Hakuhodo G5507BkSL (same as B5507BkSL) for Chanel Quads (and for many other eye shadows, if you like dense application).
It is a laying brush and it is very dense, gets the color wonderfully, almost true to the swatches.
Yes exactly. I am thinking of the Sand and Surf palette from this season. Sigh. That's interesting! Do you mean the iridescent palettes? The more matte palettes I have had no troubles with (I have Grege, Night Butterfly and Royal Kaki), but I can imagine some of the more shimmery ones being more problematic. With my shimmery palettes (Earth Reflection and Parisian Lights) I have used the crapplicators and MAC brushes, which are dense enough to pick up a decent amount of color. Some of the e/s in shimmery palettes are so similar to each other that on the lid they just blend together and appear to be the same color. So I think I get what you mean. With fluffier brushes I doubt I would be able to get decent color payoff either. At least with the Chanel quads that I own, I can see the difference between the 4 shades on my lids.
I need to try Gabrielle soon, I have just been on a trip to Ireland where I bought lots of new stuff from and I've sort of forgot about using Gabrielle.

aw Debbs what great choices. The Chanel powder is worth every penny. I know I should discourage but I have a backup in my cart I'm debating about, love it that much!! ok so ignore this one, was catching up in order and now see you bought it!! YEAH! That's the best pretend haul ever Debbs! Love your selections. Enjoy your new goodies. I hate using those little brushes. I give them to my daughter to use with her art projects for doing fine detail work. Maybe I'd better keep them until I've used some of the palettes. I suppose you would clean them just as you would your full-sized brushes. So far I've worn Poésie for the past several days. I'm just in love with it!!!
Thank you for the tip Sara (btw I'm a frequent blog stalker of yours!) I'd tried the MAC 239 patting with a reasonable amount is success but always looking for other ideas!Hi everyone, I would recommend Hakuhodo G5507BkSL (same as B5507BkSL) for Chanel Quads (and for many other eye shadows, if you like dense application). Debbs - do you find Hesitation to be more red or purple based? I have a hard time with red based shadows making my eyes water. Sketch from MAC is the WORST for me with that!ICL, they are in my storage case that I rearranged yesterday so Harmonie Du Soir is not new. Love love Songe and Hesitation. You will even benefit more from the gloss over lipsticks. I only wear it by itself. Songe reminds me of cotton candy for some weird reason, lol.
:frenz: ah for you anytime doll!If that is the case definitely stay away from Hesitation as it is more red based than purple!!! Meleftie, thanks so much for helping me out as well! That was awefully unexpected, really nice and kind of you gorgeous.
LOL---yes I did.ok so ignore this one, was catching up in order and now see you bought it!! YEAH!
Ha we must be thinking alike, I just pulled the trigger. Ordered my backup and Gabrielle. I right now have the Hakuhodo brush Sara recommended in my cart there and I'm debating, hate paying $9 shipping for one brush, not sure what others to order with it. I've got 4 of those brushes so far. LOL---yes I did. :frenz: Meleftie, don't ever mistake me for someone with willpower. I just ordered Gabrielle:thud:
Thanks! I'm wondering if it makes sense to try to get *both* Rivoli *and* Mademoiselle. http://www.frontrowbeauty.com/new-chanel-reformulated-les-4-ombres-quadra-eye-shadows-226-tisse-rivoli-214-tisse-mademoiselle-review-swatches/Sabrina's review of Poesie and Rivoli: http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2014/07/chanel-les-4-ombres-multi-effect-quadra.html
What are your must haves? I've been on Sonia's site but am overwhelmed by choices lolMeleftie - Before I purchased my Hakuhodo brushes I combed through Sonia's (@ Sweet Makeup Temptations) favorites....I didn't want to pay the shipping for 1 brush either.... Good call on the backup - I did it too! :cheer:
