I spend way too much money in Sephora. Although I know many people who buy also steal I wondered why I was followed and no one else was. Yeah, the answer came to me real quick. It's humiliating really to be followed like some kind of criminal because of the color of my skin. I have never stolen a thing in my teen/adult life. I was raised better than that and I deserve better treatment than that. After I swiped my card and as I walked out, I noticed she was nowhere to be found. How about that?
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I've been known to turn and VERY loudly say, "Have we met before because you're behaving as if I might look like someone you
know." It both shocks and ends them in the opposite direction.

I was told no manager is there. I sent an e-mail and I'm waiting for a response. If it's not what I want I will follow with a call and track down a store manager. I'm not letting this go, trust me.
Shontay, what happened to you is total BS and I'm sorry you had to even deal with that kind of ignorance. I really hope that you get some kind of reply back that isn't some canned response and that some kind of action is taken against that employee.

Ha! I've said things in the past when I've been followed but it really didn't hit me what had happened until I was at the checkout, turned around and saw her speeding away from me. Then I couldn't even see her as I left.

Reminds me of those recent incidents at Barneys NY. (Those were racial profiling, though, I don’t know what happened here)

I so would have wanted to be standing next to you when you said that!

Heck, just call corporate.
I'm definitely not keeping this on store level. I've sent e-mails to sephora corporate before and I've gotten timely, satisfactory responses. They really don't want to make me call. They really don't but, I will if they blow me off. Also I've calmed down enough to try my new goods. :D

Sorry that happened to you Shontay. I've had that happen to me, too, so I know the feeling. It becomes super glaring when they're in every aisle behind you pretending to straighten up things. It's completely disgusting and I hope the store/company makes it up to you Medgal, I'm going to use that line if I'm in that situation again.

Ahh, I was hoping you would still enjoy your new lippies! :pretty: Oh, I love to call....hence, my NOTES
 You have a file! I remember.

Before when this happened to me someplace else I said "Hi" very loudly. The person bolted. As soon as you acknowledge them in any way they're shamed. I really wished I wasn't in my own world and debating on which 2 or 3 to get. I wasn't aware of what was going on until I was done and I am mad at myself about that. Jane is perfect! I'm sorry I put it off. It reminds me of pumpkins. :) A perfect fall color. Angel isn't as bubblegum as I was expecting. Even swatching in Sephora (hello bad lighting and the reason why I wander around the store). It's still beautiful, though. I'm so glad no one here is named Angela. They would hate me so hard.

Will we get to see Jane on you soon?

OK, I'm still pissed but here goes: This is my local Sephora that I always go to. Just about once a week and everyone knows me. They know I go in, say hello and then I am off on my own. I browse, I swatch, I find the good light, I think and I buy (90%) of the time. Cool. This woman has been working in the store for as long as I've been there. Now you know how something happens between you and someone and then it makes your entire "relationship" come into focus? Yeah, that's what happened here. It wasn't until I was checking out that I realized this woman was never more than 10 feet away from me AT ALL TIMES. She was supposed to cover the front of the store. This is a light Thursday when just 3 workers were in the store and only 6-7 customers. Of course, none of the other customers looked like me. So as I wandered off to the back to the polishes and perfumes, there she was. Left her whole section uncovered. Anyone could've come and stolen the entire front end of the store because she just had to follow me around. Acting like she had stuff to straighten, but no everything was pristine because THE STORE JUST OPENED! Then I think and realize she never says hello to me ever. She never offers me a basket even when I have a handful of stuff. Every other time she was hanging around I chalked it up to her doing her job. Usually, there was always more customers around me so, that's what she's supposed to do. No, it's crystal clear I was being singled out. It was ridiculously obvious. I spend way too much money in Sephora. Although I know many people who buy also steal I wondered why I was followed and no one else was. Yeah, the answer came to me real quick. I'm really sorry! You didn't deserve that at all. Being singled out is never right, I hope you wrote a complaint. :( I'm very sorry I know how it feels. On a brighter note Jane is probably amazing on you.

So how does Angel appear on you...more violet pink or what? Especially if its sheer.

Sorry about your experience Shontay. I'm ticked for you! Sadly I've been there with you and I'm glad you're complaining and making some noise! I've gotten more gift cards than I can remember complaining about stuff like that. In today's social media age some corporations are trying to do anything to avoid the reputation hit. Of course I then tell everyone I know that such and such a store has racist employees, but that's besides the point. I don't do social media so I'm old school with word of mouth. And makeup forums I guess. Lol.

It's like an orchid pink? I'm going to post pictures in a second. Had to sift through the dozens to find a couple of decent ones. I imagine if applied sheer it won't look much different. Again, I think it's gorgeous, but on me it's a little warmer than I anticipated. That's probably the best way to put it.

I think I've decided to not go to that Sephora anymore. It pisses me off because it's the closest one to me, but I will always remember this when walking in there no matter what resolution I see from this.

I do not think you should be too upset about it. Maybe she was told from the manager or loss prevention that she has to follow you? I work in retail and I follow people. All races. I do not profile that way because I have seen everyone stealing - white, black, Hispanic, young, old, trashy, classy... you name it I have seen them take stuff like there is no tomorrow

I am white as a ghost and every single time I go to sephora they follow me. I have someone breathing behind my neck. I ignore it

And I am not trying to defend that person just trying to explain from another perspective... who knows what she was thinking or what she was told she has to do? maybe the day before they had huge theft and they were told they have to follow everyone? and usually people who do not want any help and wonder around by themselves they get followed because they are suspicious
