MAC Early Buzz - News for Upcoming Collections in 2015

Sure does! I'm looking at you Guerlain & Tom Ford. :haha: But then a few years ago I thought MAC was too pricey, so who knows where I'll be by next year. LOL

It really does! Back before I got my first MAC lipstick I would say stuff like "Why would I buy a $20 lipstick when I can get one from the drugstore at half the price"...Then after swooning after Rebel for so long I decided to buy it as a treat for my birthday (back in April 2013) and now I have over 30 MAC lipsticks and Im not looking back!  The hardest though was paying $35 for the Marc Jacobs Pop ones...we all have our hurdles lol. Once you get over one or two it may be a breeze haha

Dior and Chanel have some really amazing products and even though they are pricier it's a lot easier to just buy a few items that you really like than with MAC. From Chanel's Holiday collection I just bought the highlighter and I'm happy with that...I might end up getting the blush as well, but with MAC I usually plan on getting only a few items, but then it snowballs and I end up going from four to eleven items (Alluring Aquatic, and I'm glad 'cos they are all amazing!), but A LOT of MAC's collection tend to be repetitive, yet they still suck everyone in... I'm pretty much planning on skipping Lightness of Being collection because I don't think those highlighters can top Chanel's. Sooo... money saved! BTW, you may want to check out Bobbi Brown... I love the Shimmer Bricks! I just got Copper Diamond today and it's awesome!!!

I'm realizing this now. I'm going to have to move in the coming months and I'm really thinking of going through everything and getting rid of things I haven't used in awhile and then trying to start working my way into more of the higher end things I've been eyeing awhile but never bought due to spending my free money on the seemingly endless slew of MAC launches.. I still love MAC, but even in the 2 years I've been buying I've started to notice a sense of repetitiveness since they release so much and so often and I'm starting to feel slightly burnt out.

I only bought permanent products because all of the collections that came out didn't really appeal to me. I'm just sad that I wasn't into MAC during Archie's Girls or Temperature Rising. This year I bought one lipstick from Fantasy of Flowers but Alluring Aquatic really got me all in... and since I've bought at least a few items from each collection that followed. I really love what I have from all of those collections, but due to the repetitiveness I highly doubt I'm going to buy the same way next year. Out of the hundred or so collections MAC has each year only a few of them are really stand-out collections. I feel like other higher end brands put more time into their collections and sometimes the quality is much better but not always (Dior eyeshadow palettes can be really horrible). Enjoy the Chanel highlighter!!!

I'm really hoping that there will be some nice fluidlines coming out next year. I skipped the Fantasy of Flowers ones because I could never get gel liners to work on me. Then I decided to give fluidlines one last go, bought a different brush, and was stunned to find how easy it was to apply them - but too late to get the FoF fluidlines. Apart from that, I'm also excited about the return of Reel Sexy as that came out before I got into MAC. Although there are some collections that I'm less interested in (Lightness of Being), others still produce a mad pages-long wishlist, so I'm happy. That said, I'd like to get something from the Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier holiday collections. I bought my first Chanel lipstick a couple of weeks back, and now I really want to get Fougueuse or a similar bright pink (all the bright pinks WILL be mine). Just like with my first MAC lipstick, once you've got one, it's so much more tempting to get a second, and a third...

I've been seeing that over the last few months and am finally ready to just take the plunge.
Alluring Aquatics was a great collection, I was initially going to skip it but am glad I didn't.

You should definitely check out the shimmer bricks from Bobbi Brown (yes, I've pretty much been advertising them here for the past few weeks lol). They are just so awesome and I've been really enjoying them!!! Just sharing the joy!!!

That's what I'm starting to realize. I wore a lot of drug store makeup for awhile before getting into MAC and now that I'm here on Specktra I'm starting to branch out more and get more exposed to the fancier brands. I like the idea of 3 or 4 collections vs 50,000 collections. lol

I tried giving some Dior products a chance, but their eye shadows and nail polishes are plain awful.

Besides Mac, I think that Too Faced is amazing and I love most of their products so far. Nars is a bit of a hit or miss for me, but they really need to tone down on adding Laguna to every palette they make. Benefit is mostly a miss for me and The Balm is nowhere to be found where I live. There are no Tom Ford counters in my country (that might change next year though) which is a relief for me because the Nude Dip and Emerald Lust quads were seriously tempting. Lancome, Chanel, Estee Lauder, and other high end brands barely spark my interest unless something really stands out. Guerlain was the easiest high end brand to transition because my mom used to occasionally buy stuff from their counters when I was a kid/teenager. I remember that she had Guerlain makeup in the round gold leaf packaging (Divinora I think it was) and a couple of gray packaging stuff before the gold packaging. She also had tons of Clinique, Revlon, and Elizabeth Arden stuff from the 90's to early 00's. Mac was a small counter next to Estee Lauder back in the 90's but my mom rarely bought from them. Sephora was a whole new world for many people when they launched their store in PR in 2010 or 2011. I love Mac and all, but their collections have been so repetitive and some ridiculously low on stock that it's incredibly annoying.

When did the formula change? I like the brush, but the polishes chipped really quick on me. Chanel nail polishes chip really fast on me as well which is a bit of a bummer because some colors are nice.

Dior eyeshadows are definitely hit or miss. Have you tried the Diorshow Fushion Mono eyeshadows? Most of the shades perform very well. Since Dior reformulated their nail polishes they have become my favorite by far. The wear is amazing I just apply two coats of nail polish and use Chanel's top coat. Chanel's nail polishes are now my second favorite, they wear well on me just not as well as Dior. I just wish Dior nail polish had a more unique shade range. Have you tried Marc Jacobs make up or Too Faced Melted Lipsticks? Lancome and Estee Lauder tend to be pretty basic for the most part, but I'm eyeing Lancome's Holiday collection pretty much just for a cream eyeshadow in Rouge and Estee Lauder's new lipsticks look pretty good.

I was just thinking about the shimmer bricks having seen your comments, actually. I might have to get one to put away for Christmas. Copper Diamond does look absolutely gorgeous.

You definitely should give them a try! Sandstone is also very pretty.
