Chanel Vitalumiere loose powder foundation

This made me want to look at the foundation again. Did the MUA use any other liquid foundation before that or did he use a primer? Which shade of the loose foundation are you and what is your skin tone?


As much as I would like to skip powder or apply as little as possible, it is difficult because of the humid weather here and the makeup doesn't seal without powder. But when I'm in the air con office the air is very dry, so it is difficult to find a perfect solution. I find that using powder also helps to seal in the moisture, so my skin doesn't feel so painful or tight. This is pricey, but a good base is essential so maybe I will pass a new lipgloss or the holiday highlighter and purchase this instead.

I have a number of foundations too but they are mostly not a perfect match. I'm usually between shades 10 and 20, and I don't want to purchase 2 and mix them. From Chanel I have Vitalumiere Eclat pressed powder (old version), and Vitalumiere Aqua is almost finished. Now I want Perfection Lumiere Velvet, Poudre Universelle Libre and possibly this loose foundation. Let us know your thoughts if you see and buy this foundation.

Will do. I have no desire to make a product work for me either. Such a bummer. Fortunately, those that I have
actually work. PLV happens to be my favorite and gives my skin a flawless appearance.

I think it runs lighter than the usual shade colour, that was my impression. I put photos and wrote about my experience at the Chanel counter on my blog. I haven't retouched the photos at all (I never do) so that you can see what it looks like. I will be doing a full review once I have used it a couple of days, so perhaps end of this week or next week (I like to be thorough and test things out well) I hope it's useful!

Thanks for the final review. I like your idea that perhaps the powder should be sold w/o the mini kabuki brush to lower the cost. I couldn't agree more since I already
have the Chanel retractable full sized kabuki brush---don't exactly need more.

I agree too, the mini kabuki brush is not as handy to carry around as the retractable one. I guess Chanel doesn't want customers to feel they have to buy another brush to use with this foundation, and so they include a mini one.

Good review, Ingrid! I like your description of the finish, satin and natural. I don't want something 'sheeny' like some loose powder foundation I've tried, they look terrible on me.

Exactly, and since I'm loving the foundation what about when I finish it? Even if I use the mini kabuki I won't want another one, and more future ones to create a kabuki army haha! I must say we're quite lucky here as it costs less than in the UK. I bought the foundation and has been wearing it for a month now. Overall I like it. My favourite part about it is that the glow it gives, very natural yet visible, no odd sheen which I fear. I bought 020 which is not a perfect match, but I'm between 010 and 020, so 010 would be too light on me, and 020 too dark when I apply too much. I like it best over a very light layer of liquid foundation especially on the central part of my face. At first I applied it right after moisturiser, so my skin was very moist and all the powder stuck on and was too thick and gross. It is best over slightly moist skin, or like what some say oilier skin. So far I've been applying it with the mini kabuki and the retractable, surprisingly I prefer the mini. The brush head is the right size for picking up the powder and buffing onto the skin. The retractable is a tad too big, and the bristles too long, but the way it is designed we can control how much we extend the brush. The only negative part about the mini is that the handle is so tiny I find it hard to grip comfortably but everything else is good. The scent of the powder is so lovely, I love it. It is not as strong as les beiges. From a distance my skin looks beautiful, although up close I can still see pores and bumps. I'm glad I bought this! My next chanel foundation to buy would be perfection lumiere velvet.

Loving this so far bought it 4 days ago and have been using it over dior bb creme which seems to be an excellent base for it to adhere too. Feel like it gives such a natural finish. Definitely disguises my pores and doesn't look drying for a powder either. I feel like it may be my new addiction

It certainly is addictive. Today I used the Nars translucent loose powder over the same liquid foundation I've been using with the Vitalumiere loose powder, and the difference was huge. I was getting so used to the beautiful finish that Vitalumiere gave me that I forgot what it looked like without it. Without it, my pores and dry patches are very obvious, and there's no glow. I will repurchase the Vitalumiere when it runs out.

I don't know. I'm curious too, maybe when I'm at the counter next time I will try to speak with the SAs to find out. It is certainly something the counters are promoting to customers, though. When I was considering the powder last year and trying it out, the SAs would suggest I get this rather than the universal loose powder, but then it could be because this powder foundation cost more. I didn't know the US is not getting this yet!
