I HAVE A BURNING QUESTION ABOUT SKINCARE SOLD AT SEPHORA!

So, I've been trying out philsophy Clear Days Ahead for my mild to moderate acne. I have normal skin. I DO NOT have oily skin. So I'm reluctant to try a lot of acne lines because they often sensitize my skin and fry my face (proactiv was a horrible experience!).

So far, I've had no irritation due to the philsophy Clear Days Ahead line, and my skin has cleared up somewhat. It's no miracle, I still have some small whiteheads and zits along the jawline, but they are smaller and go away faster than when I was using Dermalogica's line for normal skin (and some Mary Kay now and then).

But my hairstylist said Peter Thomas Roth was what cleared her skin up. That was one of the lines I was considering, but because it contained a mattifying gel, I assumed (and based on the Sephora reviews) that it was for oily skin. But my hairsylist said she has normal skin. Maybe I could just skip the mattifying gel?

Has anyone used both lines? What worked better?

Or, even better question: look at the ingredients of both (philsophy uses mostly salicylic acid and peter thomas roth uses beta hydroxy acid)...which is better? Or is it one of those things where I'm just going to have to try both and see?

HELP!

Try the Peter Thomas Roth rose stem cell cleanser. It brightened/cleared up my face like nothing else, better even than Murad or similarly harsh cleansers - but it's not drying at all. In terms of AHAs/BHAs in the products ... yeah, it's just trial and error really. Salicylic acid works best for me, or small amounts of glycolic acid (which is in the PTR cleanser). I've tried Philosophy skincare and never felt like it did much for me, but I haven't used it consistently enough to probably have a fair judgement on that.

And I don't think it's necessary or better to be loyal to one line for skincare - I always tend to pick and choose products from different brands to make up my skincare routine. You definitely don't need to use the mattifying gel or any other products you have no interest in or use for!

Also maybe try Origin's Clear Improvements mask - I find it really, really effective for breakouts and it's nowhere near as harsh as Glamglow. It doesn't make your skin purge afterwards either. I hope that helped a bit!

Yes, that helped somewhat. I think I'm going to buy the Peter Thomas Roth starter kit and see if it works better than the philosophy stuff, which I have now used long enough to get results from (and they aren't bad results at all! My skin isn't irritated and it IS more clear -it's just not crystal clear and perfect like it used to be. sigh. acne that starts in your THIRTIES is ridiculous).

ETA: I ordered the Peter Thomas Roth kit. I'll use it when I'm done with the philsophy kit. I'll keep you guys posted with what worked best!

..I liked GlamGlow, but it WAS a bit harsh. But I tried the exfoliating one. Youth Mud, or whatever. I haven't tried their clearing mask.

I must say I got the PR gold kit last sale and I absolutely LOVE it. its the perfect intro into the line I've heard so much about (I think its sold out now) but that gold mask is loooove!! I also got the 3 mini mask set ($20) so im gonna try the cucumber one....and OMG I thought I was the only one who thought the glamglow was harsh...YIKES!! feel like im rubbing concrete pieces on my face at times. Philosophy to me has always been overrated to me Their eye cream did nothing for me but I still used it as like a primer before concealer. My faves in skincare is origins, boscia, PR, constance glow (indie brand) that uses natural ingreds!

Picked up the Hourglass modernist palette in Color Field... I am so in love. I don't own any green shadows besides what's in the Amrezy palette, Vice palette, and UD electric palette. I also tried the new NARS foundation and matched my color, so I'll be getting that when my Giorgio Armani foundation runs out. I'll also be trying the Hourglass mineral veil primer because it feels so silky smooth to the touch and I'm currently just using my Kiehl's moisturizer as primer.

It took so much restraint not to buy all of it at once XD

Hehe it was only a 10% off coupon. The email was something like "You're close to hitting VIB Rouge again! Here.. this might help!!" and it's 10% off. Though, I have NO idea why I am getting this... I have only spent $200 including this current order on this calendar year. Weird.

I ordered:

KVD Foundation (I really want to try it out! and now she has the super light/pink shade online, #42 I think.)
Tartiest Gel eyeliner thing. I'm SO curious!
Armani Lip Maestro in shade 503.

I totally forgot about the BB brush promo :( I got a deluxe face wash instead. I love trying new skin care items, so it's no biggie!

I *LOVE* the hourglass mineral veil primer. I would say it's allllmost my HG primer. (I love it and always repurchase, but still hunt for one that could be slightly better... just because I am a nut like that, lol) I am currently trying something different, though, since the dryer cold season is effecting my skin. :) I hope you like it!!

Can anyone who has the Hourglass Mineral Veil tell me if it's any good for oily skin?
