Well said. Kindergarden Red is really pretty in person, something I could see myself using if the quality had been there.I dont see anything offensive with your assessment of the collection. In fact I rather agree with you on a number of points. The blush was a let down for me. I attempted to swatch ripe peach with my finger and didnt get a lot of pigmentation. It felt as though there was some film that acted like a barrier between the blush and my finger!
I used a brush and was able to get a bit more but nothing that could justify my spending money on it. Kingergarten Red was the only blush that stood out for me but I've never been one to spend a lot on blush (I use NYX because it has amazing pigmentation and is very cheap) so that made my decision easy.
The reds were easy for me to pass up because they remind me of the Rocky Horror collection, which I have. I dont see the point in buying another red lipstick that looks just like one I already own! Plus, like you said, there are too many options of the same thing so I think consumers feel underwhelmed and get what stands out, which is Oxblood in my opinion. I suppose that's why collections like the Osbournes sold so fast. There are a variety of unique colors that stand out in their own way.
I think Mac knows how to make a successful collection for sure, but when its more about a designers collaboration and vision, it's a totally different story (and not in a bad way). I think that is why designer Mac collabs don't seem to be as popular, because its sort of an extension of the designers work and it's very tailored to their specific tastes and creative vision. Whereas with a normal Mac collection, Mac knows the formula for a well-selling collection that will garner attention and meet their consumers desires.
That's just how I see it.
