MAC X Cinderella Collection (March 5, 2015)

Personally, I totally understand where MAC was going with this collection. I mean it is based off a cartoon character with fair skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair. If you look at the cartoon, you'll see that the character barely has any makeup on. It's very minimal and sheer and I suppose that's why the lipsticks are lustre and all the eyeshadows are neutral/bland shades. Plus all the glitter in the beauty powders and lipglass is understandable considering if you google 'Cinderella' every image of the character is surrounded in fairy dust/glitter/sparkle.
I don't know but I just feel with this particular collection, MAC could not have tried to cater to everyone without totally alienating the character that it's based off of. Which is why I might only grab Royal Ball as I feel it's the only color I can work with.

I'm going to wait for more swatches If anything I can skip the glosses T swatches not always true to colors and I love her for what she does but I'm still going to wait and see

Yes, that ^ is exactly what I was thinking.I was hoping for something natural-looking yet universally flattering. Perhaps a couple of "my lips but better" shades or a soft pink or peach blush.

I somehow think that Disney moderates them a bit too heavily and restricts what they can and can't do since it is something that is going with a specific movie that theyve spent money and time on marketing. It was the same with Maleficent, it was like they had this strict guideline that allowed for them to get a big cooperation with Disney but sort of stunted creativity. It's just my guess though, but I wouldnt be surprised if that was part of the deal.

I think the tone of color on the lips that you see on the cartoon is based off of the 'natural' tone of the characters lips. I'm imagining that the character has very red, pigmented lips which is only slightly enhanced with a thin, veil of color. This small amount of color wouldn't alter the natural color of one's lips though; so I believe that's why we have the colors that we have for the lipsticks in this collection.I think I'm

I agree though that they could've thrown in a blush. We'll never know why they didn't, so it is what it is.

I need some permanent items that I am running low on so I will be saving money for that.

I was thinking of grabbing Royal Ball but after seeing these swatches, I'm going to have to pass. Royal Ball is too ashy and barely has any color payoff. What a disappointment.

I think I get where you both are coming from, that everyone with each of their specific preferences would like to find themselves in a colour story which caught their eye; however, it is really tough to fulfill. Sometimes when for example Temptalia announces the next collection, I can already predict the comments to her site underneath the post. If it is a bright bold collection, people are unhappy that MAC did not put any neutrals or anything "wearable" in it. If it is a more neutral collection, people will bemoan the lack of bright red, violet and pink mattes. If a collection is identifiable as gearing towards specific skin tones (for example, but not exclusively, towards Fair or WOC), the ones whom this collection possibly might not suit that perfectly will say that MAC forgot about them and that there is nothing in for "insert own colouring". And for the next collection it´s rinse and repeat
As long as there is something nice for me at some time in the year (usually autumn), I don't mind when there are collections with colours that would not suit me. Here in this case I do like the packaging but I don't need anything; I still have Blonde MSF and some older beauty powders regarding the shimmer powder, the lipsticks are too light and since I have UD Basics 1&2 I don't need the palette either. Probably it's because these days I have a more "low buy"-point of view, but I suppose I could do the Cinderella look aswell with the products I own already, Maybe for those who like to create the Cinderella-look out of this collection, there is a chance to do so with other MAC products of which they know that they'll suit them perfectly.

Same. I'm skipping too. I was trying to justify buying Royal Ball since it looked like something I could work with and/or wear with the right lip pencil but after those swatches, there really is no point in buying them even for the packaging as it's the cheap, flimsy packaging. Sad really.I know. That was on my list too.
