Tom Ford Beauty Discussion

Two of the lipliners went rather brown, and the other peach. Neither really works well for my coloring. The nude lipsticks had a winner or two in the bunch--the new line of creamy opaques are really, really opaque! Similar to the vibe of Nars Audacious. I agree with these it's best to see them in person first. They hit my local Sephora about 2-3 weeks ago, so they should be around if you get a chance to get to one.
Well I honestly rarely wear lipliners but every so often I think I should grab a couple just to have in my collection. The "peach" one looked peach on some people but not all and I think it's described as a rosy nude so I was just confused. And I was more drawn to the new lipsticks personally. Like you said, there are a couple nude-ish shades that stand out. I have something to return to Sephora so I may make the trek down (an hour away is the closest store!) this weekend and check out the MJ items in person. With a store credit you never know what I might come away with! LOL

What primer are you guys using for the duo's? I'm not getting great wear with anything. It fades and gets patchy.

Hi there MrsB. I'm wearing Ripe Plum. I primed w/ UDPP-anti-aging formula. I then put MAC Ardent cream shadow on my lid and then RP. I sheered & blended RP up to the transition area where there is only UDPP and that area still looks good as well. I just checked and I don't have any fading. Here's a pic I just took after having RP on fro several hours. I looks more burgundy IRL.

Nice idea! Let me know if you find a base that works, because that would look beautiful. I have no idea how the shades will pull on my eye yet. I adore purple so I'd be pleased if it actually looked that way on me and not just brown.
Aww you're so sweet Glammy!

I used MAC Ardent cream e/s from the Gareth Pugh collection. I also use MAC PP in Half Wild or Hyper-violet with burgundy eyeshadows.

Thank you Meddy! I just googled that cream shadow - wow! Too bad I missed out on that one. They should make more burgundy cream shadows. I do have Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk. That might serve it's purpose as a base if I need it!

Thanks Ella! Color Tattoo PP would totally work.

My Ripe Plum arrived today! I'm so glad I didn't skip it, it's so much more beautiful than on all the swatches. I'm a bit surprised about some of the reports here, my duo has great colour payoff and doesn't seem to be patchy or dry???
I'm glad you're loving it FF. I didn't have any problems whatsoever with it.

LOL, man you've had some great hauls.

OMG STOP! LOL
What Brush did you use.

Hoody's unite!

This is beautiful! *ignoring you*
Uhoh, maybe I should leave the duo's alone after all
Thanks Pretty!

I used the MAC 215, medium shader brush---it's dense, it grabs the product & the shape is great for applying
e/s the eyelid.

Anybody that picked up the creme shadow does it crease up badly lots of reviews saying it does honestly that has kept me from buying
I had NO creasing whatsoever---love it.

Choose your brush carefully and prime your lids. You'll be fine Glammy.

Hello Ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a while (watching your awesome swatches and reading your impressions) and now I’ve decided to break the ice and join the party.

I discovered Tom Ford’s makeup last Fall and since then I can’t get enough of it. Therefore, this year I went crazy and I got all the Spring collection except the two nail polishes.

In the beginning I had mixed feelings about the Spring 2015 Color Cream. I tried to apply it with a brush but I hated the way it looked on me. The color was too dark, and I couldn’t sheer it out. I think my brush was picking up too much product at once. Then I read Sarah’s blog entry when she said that she applied the cream shadow with her fingers and WOW, what a difference that made.
[h=1]Last Thursday I received my duos and mascaras so I didn’t have much time to play with them yet but I ran some mascara tests. I am a little bit disappointed by them. I love the formula (I think it’s the same as the Raven one, I can’t see/feel any differences) but the color is not there. I kind of knew that I won’t get that vivid color from the Spring ad but I was hoping for something more intense. I used three different methods to apply them. First I used them by themselves and this method yielded the least color payoff. Then I layered them on top of black mascara and this method was only slightly better. Today I tried a white base so I used Intense Teal over Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum but still the bright color was not there.[/h] [h=1]Today I took several pictures while playing with Intense Teal and Crushed Indigo. As a shadow base I used Diorshow' Matte Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Fantasie then the lightest pink color from Tisse Riviera on top of that. I know these are odd choices, don’t ask me why I picked them.

I was pleasantly surprised by Crushed Indigo though. I had zero problems to apply the darker shade (I used Sigma E55), and there was almost no fallout. In all the pictures the eye shadows were used dry. Also what you see there are three coats of Intense Teal over the Dior lash primer.[/h] [h=1]Indoor picture - I only used the darker shade.[/h]
[h=1]Outdoor picture - only the dark shade used.[/h]

Sorry for the looong post, I tend to get too excited when I talk about makeup.

To get the more intense color I have found use a strong black mascara, let dry, then put on 2-3 coats of the color mascara letting each layer dry before you put on the next. If you want serious screaming color lashes try Dior It Mascara or the Chanel mascara from Summer 2013. Or even the MAC Toledo collection mascara.

:welcome2: The long post is great with all the pics & info. I like that you put what products you used, such as how you layered the e/s. The shadows are gorgeous on you & have beautiful eyes and lashes. You are definitely in the right place to talk all you want about makeup. It's fun to play with different colors & see how they blend together. You came up with pretty combos. Sometimes my layering is out of desperation. Last night my husband & I had an important dinner to attend. I wanted a mature, sophisticated, look but not boring. I was running a bit late getting dressed & of course that's when a fail is going to happen. I started with a Chanel palette that I've had forever & always works. Then I decided I wanted more oomph & add a bit more color so I pulled out my beloved Dior Stylish Move. Trying to rush I got too much of the darkest color on my brush & when added to the color already applied it was not the nice deep plum I was going for. So it was dab a bit off, add light pinkish & blend like crazy, still needed major reconstruction. There was a lot of add & blend going on. I finally ended up with what appeared to be a lovely look of carefully chosen well blended colors. In reality It was a frantic mix of grabbing different colors to layer, add, blend, or whatever to avoid looking like a bruised up discount hooker. The combo only took one Dior, one Guerlain, & 3 Chanel palettes & a few single e/s as well as about a dozen eye brushes to achieve.

The long post with lots of pics is much appreciated. @Medgal07 I am loving the look you did too! So far I am not faring as well with my plum duo. I'm not having any problems getting pigment, just finding that it is really accentuating the crepey-ness of my eyelids.
sigh.gif
I'll have to play around with different primers and see if that makes any difference for me.

Another nice review of the Spring 2015 cream shadow:
