Not only unhealthy, but how would mascara even last that long? Mine all dry out within a matter of months and start to look terrible when applied. Mascara is the only cosmetic product I can't keep around for very long at all bc it just dries out and won't work properly.

Same, I learned the hard way having back ups dry up or go off on me, it's not worth it!

Yes, exactly! Honestly, there are much better neutral palettes out there. I personally love and much prefer my original Naked palette, which is just one example. Nude Dip is lovely, but it's not what I expected it to be after all that hype.

It's just metallic shimmer overload for me. It takes a lot to work with, which is what I don't have time to do in the mornings. I really only have time on the weekends, but that's when I want to play with all the bright colors that aren't really ideal in a super conservative office setting.

Yes, the lack of a matte color is the other issue with the palette. It's a lot going on without a matte to tone down the shimmer and help transition the shades, which makes application harder and I end up having to compensate for the palette w a matte shade. I dunno, I'm glad to have it and it's lovely, but it could have been better.

I'm fine not having a matte color. I actually really strongly dislike matte eyeshadow, but I know I'm alone on that.
Like you, I'm glad to have it. It's just not a go-to for me.

About the Shade & Illuminate brush---I have it---in spite of some poor reviews. I think the low marks came from people who thought the brush should be able to do more!
Well it wasn't promoted as a multi-purpose brush, hence the name! I like the brush and use it particularly for the 'shade portion of the duo, but in all honestly, It's not
necessary. If you have the MAC 249 Large Shader brush (mac 249 brush) it performs that same function. I do like the shorter handle of the S & I brush but I don't
hesitate to reach for the 249 if my S & I brush isn't clean.
I also found if you are going for the shade/illuminator thing, that brush is needed too. Yes, I had previously tried this. Turns out wrong color I purchased, and nope none of the brushes I owned worked. Picking up this next Friday. Pay day is on Wed.!!!!!

I agree with you I love nude dip and the formula is great BUT BUT BUT- this palette needs mixing with other textures and colors, on its own it can very easily get dull and muddled.

You're not alone! For the longest time, I'd never ever wear matte shades. I really disliked them. I only use them as a transition shade or a crease shade now... and that's rarely! I love my satins, shimmers, glitters and sparkles!

Yeah sure, my step dad used to work for proctor and gamble, so he'd get access to the staff shop of products that weren't fit for retail sale, brands like dolce and gabbana makeup, max factor, olay and even Sk 2 skincare! I found that a lot of the products had been manufactured so long ago that they were almost off when they were being sold in the staff shop :/ It not just how long you have a back up, think how long it's been since it was actually made! I had that happen with Mac moisturisers I'd backed up and different brands of mascara too :/ I've had powders go bad but only if they got too greasy or wet.

I avoided mattes like the plague for the longest time until I started watching YouTube gurus and the magical way they used them to smoothly transition, or to use as the all over color as a sort of light base to build on. Changed my eyeshadow game. BUT, on my lid, NO mattes! Lol it's all shimmer and glimmer and glitter and shineYou're not alone! For the longest time, I'd never ever wear matte shades. Wow thats very cool that you had access to those brands- I think yeah it has to do with production date and ingredients. Powders seem to hold out the longest followed by creams, liquids, etc.
