It's nice to know there are others out there! I've seen so many posts about people loving Kinda Sexy, Toledo's Oxblood, Julia Petit's Boca... It's good to know there are others who wouldn't dream of buying them. I love oranges, I have a bunch of bright oranges. But the brownish-orange shade isn't a good look for me.
Exactly! These shades look so good on my sister and friends, but not on me. Now I know that I'm not the only one! Oxblood is another one I wanted to buy and I finally had the chance with the restock a month or two ago, but I knew it was going to be an unflattering brown-orange on me. I need more grey and purple undertones in these shades to cancel out the yellow.

I think MLM is going to sell fast because of the color. BUT the pictures I have seen nothing screams oh my goodness I must have this. It looks so much like Up the Amp to me which I don't own. I just picked up Mac Lavendar Jade and that color is so pretty on me. I'm not getting that wow factor with MLM more like its another purple lippie to add to the collection. If I am not wowed by it I will be returning it. I have no room for lippies I don't love.

I kind of have that issue with Flamingo. It's a pinky coral-y orange, and i don't look good in orange (as i've said too many times). But if i put it on then smooth it with my finger the color looks good on me, since i'm ok with peachy pinks, or pinky corals.
Thanks so much for mentioning Flamingo! I've got exactly the same problem with it, and with Cut a Caper, which is even more orange. I purchased them some years ago, when I wasn't always good at picking colors that suited me (for some reason, they've survived the purge I did in the beginning of this year).
So far, they look nice after smooting with my finger! I still need to check when I'm wearing foundation and eye makeup (I'm bare faced now and my blemish prone skin is a little distracting, so I cannot really say if a lippie color is looking good on me without foundation).
I wouldn't use this trick when trying new lipsticks at the counter (I prefer lipsticks I can use directly from the tube without having to use liner/a brush/some other trick, because I'm lazy, lol), but it's a great way to "rescue" a lipstick from being purged.

I fell in live with the initial pictures of MLM. I have to admit that the actual swatches I've seen make the shade look like a very light purple. I am not sure I will like it. I prefer my purple lipsticks with a touch of pink. I have never been a fan of Up the Amp. Lol. Like you, I have no room for lipsticks I will never wear.

I called Mac 1800 number and asked if I can pre order any of the lipsticks by phone and she told me I can't do that

. Is it only the Bay that lets people pre order? I'm In Canada btw

Also, if D for Danger is a dupe for Heaux then everyone should run and get it. Heaux and Riri boy are hands down my favorite Mac lipsticks ever

I'm not sure if all Bays allow pre-orders. One of mine does and the other doesn't. It can't hurt to ask.

I also have this problem too... and I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) to use a gray lipstick from NYX under these lipsticks, as a first layer, to cancel out the brown-y / orange-y tones. I want to love Boca so I am determined to find a solution to this problem! The other day I tried putting light layer of foundation (NC20) over my lips first and that did seem to make Boca look a bit less brown.

After looking at Karen's swatches my list has changed.

Definite:

  • Men Love Mystery
  • D for Danger
  • Antique Velvet

Maybes:

  • Matte Royal
  • Stone

I have enough B2M for at least 3 but I'm not waiting 2 weeks! I'm buying online if I can. Antique Velvet reminds me of an IMAN lipstick. It's called Opal and its a deep rich brown. The only thing that drives me bonkers is it's a formula that's similar to a cremesheen. So if Antique Velvet can dupe it in a matte I would be a happy camper.

Yes! And MLM/RRB, D is for Danger/Heaux
I think we are going to love RRB more. MLM looks very light from what I can see in other swatches. Darn. I will still get it though. I can mix it with other shades. It will not go to waste. I do not think it is BU worthy.

I may get shot but I don't believe anything is back up worthy. Unless its something that you use every single day then no, most of what we buy is not backup worthy. Something similar or the same darn thing will come out again.
