thanks @montREALady and @ashievic :) I will definitely do some more investigation or else buy one flat brush and one like mac 316 to blend it all.

btw does anyone with light complexion have whirl? have only seen it on beautiful medium/dark skin girls and it looks sooo pretty on all of them! I think it will be too dark brown for me :( does it work with a lighter lip liner?
I haven't tried the lipstick because I am fine with using the pencil and I like it very much (I'm NW20)

thanks :) I have the lip pencil too and I think I will do the same as you and just stick to it instead as a "matte lipstick"..

I think the Whirl pencil-only look works out on lighter skinned beauties or beauties with fuller lips... On me the pencil is a nice base to build the lipstick on, but it doesn't give me life like the lipstick... The lipstick is a creamy dream and also adds a bit of fullness which I need especially on the top lip

yes I think the lipstick will pull way to brown on me as I already have quite pigmented lips +I'm a mix of nc25-30ish although I have quite alright lips that I'm fine with.. oh well good thing it works well with the liner as a lipstick instead on my pale self as I can control the brown/darkness of the lip liner on my lips

at least I can enjoy seeing the darker beauties bring out the best in that lipstick

I bought whirl and it was way too dark and brown for me. Kinda ghastly honestly. Looked awesome on my mom and sister though who are darker skinned. So I gave it to mom...

sorry for posting this here but I just wonder if anyone have the mac lip brush and does it work well with these matte lipsticks or does a regular cheaper option work as well? I need a good lip brush!
The current MAC lip brushes are crap. The old 311 brush was amazing! The elf $1 concealer brush is great tho. I use it in my kit and it works perfectly for the lips. And you can't beat $1!

This is whirl on me, not sure what I am in MAC but I always wear the lightest shade and a lot of times the lightest shade is too dark, this is without liner I like it and didn't feel it was too dark for me.

thanks I will check that out if I can find elf here or online. btw I've seen a lot use the mini shader brush 228 for lipstick application as well!

I love Wayne Goss's 07 brush, especially for matte's. I get much sharper lines with it than any other lip brush I've tried.

The best lip brush is the one from Tom Ford. Yes, I own the Mac brush, and it is OK, as is the Chanel. I have two of those. One that has a cover on it and one that is at an angle. I use the TF for the matte lip products. Regardless who makes them.
I use the Mac lip brush but I think I will try the Tom Ford one based on your recommendation. How much is it?

I have to admit that I love the ELF brushes too, including the concealer brush. It works great on the lips.

46.00, and if you don't live in NY, you can avoid the sales tax if you order from BG. I think pretty much all the large department have gone to the goofy shipping. So it will end up in USPS and it takes like 8 days to get here in Chicago, and it comes out of Dallas. Yes, the same distribution center as NM. Just crazy, how this all works....I hate the new "smart post" crap.

I used to use the 228 too, but the elf concealer brush has a fine chisled edge that the 228 doesn't. Great for getting right to the edge!

yes I also feel like the edges on 228 isn't enough but 231 looks a bit better in comparison. I kinda like the look of the 212 for sharp clean edges actually but have not tried it yet.

I asked a MAC senior artist for advice and he recommended me; 228, 219, 242 an 318 (although I do not like that one at all since it's retractable well.. until it isn't anymore)

but I will definitely check out elf and tom ford as well!

it looks great on you!

not sure if it would look that good on me though :( have to try it later but it's not a top priority right now

The 231 is great as well. That's the same shape as the elf brush. I used to use that as well for lips on clients, but i prefer to use it for applying glitter to the lids. But i like it for lips on me too. The 242 tho? That's just too big! I ises the 212 to clean up around the edges with powder on myself (i don't wear foundation) when i wear bold lips, and use it with foundation on clients. It's genius! For clients tho, i can't justify spending that much on a lip brush that is gonna take a beating. I can buy a fistful for the same price as another brand. That $1 pricetag tho...

haha yes I think 242 is too big as well.. maybe he meant for blending it all together or something. I think I'm going to try a combination of the 231 and the 212 for now :) I will not use a lip brush everyday for like only going to the university so that's why I rather have a combo with brushes that I have or going to get that can multi task
