It is the only County in Illinois that has special programs for severe brain injuries. But after that program, I have never had follow up care. I don't have insurance, until recently. Saw the brain doc and I got a "oh my" as she felt the surface of my face. Once I get back I am suppose to get a bunch of tests for memory issues (which have gotten worse recently) and an MRI of the head. My P's have told me, after the tests I really need to get a lawyer and re-apply. They have said in the past, it is not relevant your are unable to work in the field your formal education is. It is you can work, and yes, they truly did tell me I could pick up trash along the road, so I am not disabled.

Thanks so much for your understanding and help!!!!! Truly, it is so frustrating not to be able to remember what I did 5 minutes ago. So I get paid minimum wage and work for temp agencies. I am not moaning. I am thankful, I am vertical and breathing.

That totally appalls me because like Ernie said, you can work a limited number of hours and still receive disability benefits. There are non-lawyer disability specialists who will take on your case and will not charge you unless and until they win your case. Some states even allow them to defend your case in front of a judge, so you'll want to know it that's applicable where you reside. I would document every issue and incident that interferes with and/or impedes your ADLs and quality of life. Keep a daily log. it's crucial that you be able to demonstrate those tangibles.
