Tom Ford Beauty Discussion

Just wondering where everyone prefers to buy their stuff online? Nordstrom, NM or Saks or? I find Nordstrom to have the friendliest service, NM is kinda in them middle, and Saks the worst - in my experience. I recently cancelled a purchase from them and each customer service rep had conflicting replies about whether or not my card was charged, and the cancellation email that never came. They were just so impatient.
I've had great experiences with Nordies and NM. Bloomies was fine. Macy's and Belkin have been fine but slowish shipping. Hate Saks. TF, Dior, CT, MAC, Bobbi Brown direct have been good so far. Sephora is fast and great return policy. Beautylish is fantastic but a little creepy. Phew! I'm sure I missed somebody...I can also see I shop too much.

NM, BG, Nordy's are my go-to places. It seems they all have gone the crazy shipping method. Chanel, Armani, YSL, Dior are super to order online directly. You also get really nice gifts from Chanel just sent to you out of the blue. These sites also allow returns, even used. TF, I get fast delivery, provided it is in stock. But they are have no return policy unless never touched. Barney's is fast, again, no returns if breathed on. Never do Saks, Bloomies unless it is an exclusive and I will die if I don't get it.

Why is Beautylish a little creepy?

I agree Beautyish is creepy. No one reason, just not a warm and fuzzy feeling from them....
I actually enjoyed the handwritten notes in the package. It was the slightly ex-boyfriend stalker mode of texting me to see how I was doing with my purchases and emails making it plain they were tracking my browsing. I know everywhere does it, but they usually don't call you out on it and try to converse. They also sent me samples of things I had been looking at (yay!) and then email follow up to see how I liked them...'No ex-boyfriend! I do not want you to compose songs to me and then post videos on Youtube about our love destiny!'

In all seriousness, I love Beautylish's selection and SUPER fast shipping. I do not love no samples (unless they're stalking you), rewards system, or discount codes. The 'personalized service' as I'll call it, just makes me feel ehhhh.

I wanna sell my never-used TF Spice coz I already have Naked Bronze. However, when Spice came, it wasn't a perfect intact one, and it looked mushed from being bumped around during shipping. I really didn't touch or use it though. Do you guys think it would be acceptable to sell it at original price plus shipping with the eyeshadow in this condition?

I like the handwritten notes and fast shipping and chats, though I have never received any follow up emails from them. :-/

Don't like that they also don't allow exchanges. Agreed on the no rewards system and discount codes.

Does it still look mushed if you set it down for while to resettle? I find once they are in the correct position for a while, they go back to the way they're supposed to be. If so, I'd say yes. Or maybe with a 10% disc if you're desperate to get rid of it and still have the box.

Okay, that is a bit weird. I have Adblock on my browsers so it limits companies from tracking me (and telling me about it). I've never ordered from them but I'm thinking of picking up some Wayne Goss brushes from them as a Christmas present to myself using their 10% welcome coupon.
I have 4 Wayne Goss brushes, and I have enjoyed them so far. I want to pick up his holiday powder brush if he does it again this year, but it's super expensive!

Nice! Which ones do you have. I want almost all the eye ones lol. I was looking at the holiday one too but had read people saying that the quality wasn't the same as his regular brushes *womp womp*.

Oh really? I thought most reviews I read loved that brush...who knows? Probably the hype-machine at work.

I have the #14 cheek (recent addition), #11 cheek, #8 eye, and #19 eye. I want the #20 eye for sure, and I'm not sure about the others because I do want to try TF brushes and maybe some non-branded (meaning not WG, TF, etc. I know those brushes are made in Japan.) Japanese brushes. The #14 is awesome for light application of pigmented blushes or for highlighting...I prefer this style brush to a fan brush. Another brush like this is the face brush from MAC is Beauty...I forget the number, but it's the one that looks like a giant MAC 217. I bought that one, which led me to the WG version since his is cheaper! The #11 is fine...super soft, but I don't always like how it performs, which might be a technique issue on my part. #8 is great for tight-lining or a super fine line. #19 is similar to MAC 217 but softer. I like the performance of the 217 better, but I have a newer one, so it's pretty scratchy and can irritate my eyelids...apparently the older versions were not like this? I don't know how helpful that is since I picked an interesting combo of brushes. I also do not have any Hakuhodo, etc. to compare to...just MAC and Real Techniques (which I actually really like) and a couple of random Sephora Pros.

Well, here's the deal. That is completely normal, and nothing is wrong with the product. Two of my cream shadow duos arrived in the same condition this summer and are fine (Unlike my CT Mona Lisa that looked obviously bad on top of the gooping to one side). That said, many people will probably think of it as damaged and not want to pay full price, so really it's up to you as far as how quickly you want it sold. If you price it competitively, I'm sure there's enough people who want Spice that would pay full-price. I would just represent it accurately in pics and see what happens...if it doesn't sell, then you have your answer. But you need to document its condition very well or the buyer could file a complaint and not have to pay.

That's hilarious lol Don't know what I clicked but NM sends me emails of products they think I'll love. I was browsing some lovely Carmen Marc Valvo clothing. Then they sent me some links to some totally different clothing selections. Didn't like the stuff lol I still get them. They've never come close but I still play along.

Thank you! I hadn't been looking into face brushes from him apart from the number 2 and the number 11 (or 13). I have something similar to the #14 from Zoeva which while I like it for highlighting, it doesn't give me as much control as I'd like. I have quite a few of the RT ones that I really like. Especially the face brushes. Believe it or not, I do not own any MAC brushes lol but I have the Zoeva dupe for the 239 that I quite like. I bought some of the Sephora x Hakuhodo brushes but haven't washed them much less tried them yet (the shame!) I'd like to try some of the original Hakuhodo ones though. I played with some at IMATS are they felt amazing!!

I get those too! They do it based on stuff you add to your cart once you're logged in. Saks does it as well but they're not as bad as NM.

Selling open makeup is tricky. I have found far better to give away, then to sell. Again, random acts of kindness to me go much further in life. If it was damaged due to shipping perhaps it should have been returned? How long ago was it purchased? If you deal with a SA or PS on a regular basis, even if it has been months, they would probably accept for an in-store credit.

Was this in response to my post? Many apologies if it wasn't! :-D

If it is, then, TF cream eyeshadows come that way though, don't they? As in no seal. So I just opened to take a look. I bought it online, must have been right before they went out of stock but I don't remember how long ago.

I think you guys were talking about Trish McEvoy brushes here a while ago. Did any of you see the new kabuki brush on Saks? Looks interesting.

Not crazy about the follow-up, but I love when they contact me to let me in on a pre-order, like when the Lucky bags came out during the holidays. They're really nice people and they always remember me when I see them at IMATS or recently at TMS Pop-Up Shop a couple of weekends ago. I've met the owner and several employees as they're headquarters is based in my city. I even got a invitation to visit and check out some Chikuhodo brushes in person when I was unsure of ordering online before I saw them. I had the opportunity to place an online order for a couple of things and got them immediately during that visit. It was pretty cool!
