I think so too. MAC is in the mid range. It's not luxury, it's not drugstore. The price tag on each product is still affordable and not out of reach to most populations.

I third this opinion. MAC is accessible and decently priced..for the most part. The decrease in price on shadow pans has just made this more true.

A lot of NYX products are the same quality as MAC, sometimes even better, since for a while, MAC was having really low quality, especially with eyeshadows. Thankfully they fixed that for the most part. Urban Decay's prices for eyeshadows and eyeliners have only raised like a dollar in several years. Meanwhile, MAC's CCBs went from $16 to $22, they halved the size of Pigments and raised the price, same with Casual Colours. MAC gets us on both ends. Plus every other brand has sales often, MAC has had 1 in like 7 years. Hopefully they decrease the price of more things because this was much needed IMO.

I don't think NYX is in the same category as MAC. NYX even appeals to a different (younger, more amateur) market. Maybe it's personal because I'm cosisntently disappointed with their offerings, but I don't understand the constant comparison. I didn't know about the MAC pigment price increase/size decrease which stinks. Now that they have travel size pigments I just buy those lol.

The best thing NYX makes are their lip pencils and their eyebrow pencils. I also like their white eyeshadow base and their brushes are fine. I haven't met a lipstick from them that I can truly say I've liked. I've never tried their eyeshadows or other face products so I can't say. But I would definitely agree with you that NYX and MAC are NOT on the same level and they cater to different parts of the market.

Most on NYX's products are just as good a quality as MAC's, if not better. Their lipsticks and glosses are really good, the jumbo pencils, eye and lip liners are good, the prismatic eyeshadows, haven't tried much else. And it's all much, much cheaper.

NYX can be a bit hit or miss, but so can MAC. I like a lot of MAC products, but there's also a ton of very average products and formulas, and then some really bad stuff that should never have made it past quality control. A lot of their perm products could really do with updating, drugstore formulas have caught up and then some.

What keeps me coming back to MAC is the huge colour selection (and the special packaging :bonk:). The quality very rarely blows me away and I would say many of the products I own are similar quality-wise to my favourite NYX, Colourpop, Kiko etc. products, or worse.
