Maybe it's just the strong chemical odor — glue/plastic fumes? — that's turning me off so much, but the Pro Longwear compact definitely feels more like the $25 I paid (thanks to the tip from MissTania), rather than the $45 retail price. Besides the awful smell and how relatively lightweight it is, I agree with everyone else about how cool the "hammered gold" packaging looks in person. A good thing since that's the main/only reason I bought it when I'd otherwise avoid mica-based powders for my oily skin, no matter the price. The four brass-handled brushes on the other hand, look and feel substantial.

The smell is really terrible, isn't it? Extremely chemical. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to go away even after airing the compacts for several days. It makes my eyes tear up and it makes be cough. I don't think it is a specific batch as the items bought in Europe have the same odor as the ones I've bought in the US. I think it is the packaging that smells rather than the product itself though.
I will also return the brush set. While I was really excited about it, the brass handles also had an awful smell (different from the compacts), which immediately transferred to my hands. The leather was also really flimsy with a big ol' "made in China" sign. I think I've only returned one item (a broken brush) in 15 years. This will be my second item that will go back.

Fig arrived today and it's really gorgeous. Beautiful deep plum. If it ever goes on sale, I might need to break my no-back up rule (which has held for more than two years!). I've never tried mattenes before, and the texture is great, my kind of matte. The packaging shape is odd, but I didn't have trouble applying. So glad I got this.

Just ordered it
Mine finally arrived! On me it's a warm terracotta peach, not pink but it might turn pink on more pigmented lips.
I also got Fig, which is wine toned and vampy, and Concord Grape which is a silver metallic grey-purple which I'm not that thrilled with. Hopefully I can combine it with something else.
Linda blush looks stunning in the compact. I'm so glad I got it even though I have the original release from Julia Petit.
The rest of my items will come later, I'm excited for the Peach blush and Pomegranate lipstick. The face powder shades aren't new so not much excitement there but I do love the beautiful compacts!
Should be in stores by now.

I love the look of this collection but wasn't compelled enough to buy anything when I saw it in person... except for this pebble mirror.
I don't know why but I love this little thing. The casing is metal so it's got some weight to it.
