About year and a half ago they decided to close almost all of the counters, and keep only couple in the usa that were making profits. Makes me sad I love guerlain but i think it's too "european" for american market. Customer here is more into too faced, anastasia, kylie and all that shit ... sorry had to say it.
This! Too Faced is such a far cry from what it was years ago to the point in which I can't support it anymore. Kylie and KKW beauty is such a travesty and it's a shame that gullible people keep throwing money at them despite how obviously fake they are. Jeffree Star should've stayed in 2009-2012 with the emo/rich club kid/MySpace era scene. Tarte revamped their image from being the bland boring neutral brand to being completely "fetch." Now the boring neutral brand title goes to Becca.
Norvina is much more tame than the rest of the influencers/gurus/whatever out there but it still occasionally caters to a varied audience.
The other problem is the Instagram/influencer culture in which even big name brands like Estee Lauder and Lancôme began to depend on because being a historic brand name is not enough and ofc it hurt their sales, so they needed a new approach. Not even having Angelina Jolie as the face for Mon Guerlain perfume is enough to boost sales in the US.
At least there's still one Guerlain counter in JC Penney in my country-and possibly in the Caribbean-that still has decent sales and has managed to stay around. It helped that they hired a new young SA who genuinely loves the brand and she's always looking for creative ways to cater to everyone because the brand here only focuses on perfumes and trying to obtain makeup items from the brand is currently in the level of sending smoke signals to see if they can respond and ship a few items. The limited collections unfortunately take months to arrive, if at all because we didn't get last two year's winter collection and we had to repromote the winter Shalimar collection and more Mon Guerlain. Even the La Petite Robe Noir makeup collection wasn't enough to attract a new crowd
(Those liquid lip stains were awful though, sorry). We didn't get this year's Spring collection either but the Summer one usually always arrives near mid August, so there's still a bit of hope because the bronzers here are still loved. It's a shame because I really love this brand despite everything and it has several top quality products. I try to buy what arrives in store just to support it, but lately I've had to rely online for my Guerlain purchases.
