Ladies, I signed up to buy gifts for kids for the holidays. This is the info I have: a 16 yr old African American girl wants makeup. What would you all recommend?
ETA: She also wants nail polish. So I know certain makeup colors won't show up on different skin tones or things can look ashy etc, but are there any concerns along those lines in regards to nail polish?

I always find really nice deals on OPI, Orly and the like in Marshalls, TJ Maxx etc. I'd say bright colours would be a nice fit depending on her skin tone/complexion. She's 16 so for makeup I'd say lip glosses or a nude lipstick if her parentals are conservative maybe throw in a fuschia pink? I know ColourPop usually has great bundle deals and they're super affordable and like Allie said, they have swatches on their website for various skin tones so that would be safe brand to try. I think they're doing nail polish now as well.

As for Marshalls and TJ Maxx, I always find a raccoon carcass. I have no idea which locations people go to for these amazing finds, but they are not near me. I do appreciate the bright colored polish recommendation. Still not sure which eyeshadow palette to go with. Perhaps two of the little Huda palettes. I doubt I would have been wowed by matte eyeshadow at age 16, but who knows these days.

Huda Warm Brown or Smokey?

I like the colours in Warm Brown more but it's almost an all matte palette. So I'd say Smokey. The MUFE 9-pan Artist Palettes in Vol 2 or 3 might be nice too. They're on that weekly wow thing for $22 right now, plus the additional 20% off. I own and LOVE Volume 3!
