I do feel that the hauls and stash pics make me want to buy everything I see. I think I've done pretty good about my spending but because I just started my mac addiction I've bought quite a bit in the last couple months. I force myself to only buy products I know I'd use (I don't ever buy l/s no matter now pretty because I know I never wear it) in order to curb the spending.

I'm always on low buy, but especially in 09 I managed to not get tempted and skip most collections (until Style Black, lol). I have other things I need to buy and am also saving for a vacation (Italy) so buying makeup is not a huge priority right now.

i am on a low buy now since no buy really doesnt work for me!!! i love makeup and trying new things but since its not free and items get costly i simply look at what i have and play with it! i figured out what works for me now and what doesnt! there are so many collections coming out and i get really hyper while viewing the posts and swatches etc but realize that i have to maintain a budget. i figured that the items that really stand out and i will use i will get as long as its under 60 bucks. so now for me sephora ff sales and mac ff sales i will take advantage of. i placed my order today at sephora online and after the discount my total was 52.00 bucks, so i am good.

I'm on a low buy. I think I've succeeded for the most part because I have not been buying from every collection like I used to. Those days where I buy almost everything from a collection is over. Especially since I don't have a job anymore. I think it was really that reason that set me off to all the spending, that I was making my own money and not using my parent's, so I just kept buying.

I've not purchased from a MAC collection since Style Black and I don't plan on buying any MAC till Warm and Cozy.

And till I finish lip products, I am not buying anymore of those, though it's VERY hard to keep me to my word with this, I'm definitely not spending anymore on these.

And I'm trying to finish off my nail polish wishlist (which isn't very large!) and once I'm satisfied with that, I won't be buying anymore of that either!

I just recently started back working after being at home for the last two years, and the first thing that came to my mind was how much of my paycheck am I going to spend on makeup!!!

I'm pretty good at budgeting, and when I know I shouldn't buy I usually don't, or go for something cheaper at the drugstore just to scratch the itch.

For now I'm not buying anything. I'm setting money aside and patiently waiting until Christmas. Then I'll do a big haul.

And yes it helps to stay out of certain forums if you are easily tempted.

One thing that I found helpful when I was still keeping up with new collections was to reflect on past collections and the things I hadn't bought... and if I actually regretted that or not. There is a difference between wanting something because it's pretty and you're excited, and wanting something because you will use it and enjoy it.

I'm on a no buy for lipglosses because I have so many already and I really want to finish some of them before they turn rancid. I only bought one MAC lipglass this year, which is good. However, I end up buying dazzleglass and lipglosses from other brands and I feel bad. I also wish to get Icecape and 2N l/g in the upcoming collections.

I try not to impulse buy but buying makeup makes me feel the world is so much better. Lame, but true for me.

Now, I try to consider if I can dupe a product already in my stash and if I will actually use the product. I also buy makeup because of the packaging and I try not to do that. Sometimes I feel sad that I can't buy whatever makeup I want, but I have to be responsible in my spending. That applies to not just makeup, but clothes, accessories etc. Fortunately, I don't feel that sad if I don't buy clothes or shoes, so I try to learn that for makeup.

Yeah, I guess I like the idea of "low buy" more so than "no buy". I just got 2 things this weekend, but I was on vacation and hadn't made any major purchases since Style Black which wasn't as bang out as I expected. Things that might help a "low buy":
1. Shop your stash before getting anything.
2. Sample the product or walk around with the product on so you can see it in different light (usually you'll end up forgetting about it or seeing something else you really want instead).

i know what you mean about the impulse buys. i had done this early in the month and when i got my macys charge, i was like WTS was i thinkin!
i am enjoying looking at the posts on the upcoming collections and the reviews but i know that i have a certain budget to spend on makeup and its not necessary for me to go over that. as for clothes and shoes i learned the benefit of shopping off season. shopping off season i can get all the things i want at very very good prices.

this is soo true!!! i loved the NN collection but i knew that most of it would not work for me and i would not use it so i better not waste my time and money on it. there is no point in my buying an item becuz its pretty and to say i have it and know good and well it will not work for me. like when i bought some blue fine glitter because its pretty. now i ask myself what was i thinking.
