I was at work in Mayfair tonight (I've been away for the last 3 months) and as we were walking out of the mall tonight I noticed the flower shop was gone. I asked what was going in the empty space and the lady I worked with stopped me and was like "OMG, your gonna die!" then she told me my two favorite things were coming to the mall: Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream is going to be going where the flower shop used to be and.......... MAC is going in where Bernard Calebault Chocolates is!!!!!!!! That's all I know so far, but I'll find out more tomorrow and keep this thread updated. So yeah, I guess it will be a free standing store, so I'm wondering what kinds of different stuff do the free standing stores carry from our regular counter in The Bay??

OMG Roxy! I am sooo stoked for you guys!! The freestanding stores rock! They carry stuff like the 4 pans, 15 pans and blush pans, and of course the pro pan refills. I am pretty sure they carry piggies as well! They carry a better selection of tools and brushes, bags and cases. Not to mention going to the freestanding is always more fun than The Bay!! I am sure they carry more stuff too, though I am not up on all of it as I don't go to the Metro store often.

Wow, congrats! I will have to check it out next time I am over!

Pardon the language here but "NO FUCKING WAY" We so have to be invited to the store opening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I was told 2 years ago at the Mayfair Bay that a freestanding MAC would be opening in the mall in 2006, but I kept asking and never heard anything else. Do mall employees get discounts? Because I need to get a job at the mall if they do

Any idea of when it is opening?

In another bit of interesting (but old) Victoria MAC news, an MA told me Pam dropped in for a visit at the downtown counter the day of the Motley Crue concert. I dunno why but I think thats so cute

Haha that is cute!! I know she shops quite a bit when she is back on home turf (I used to work at Lush and she came in, some other celebs came too - Courtney Love even came in once!).

Yeah, I know what you mean about teenies and what not at MAC but I guess we all had to start somewhere... I have actually started going during the day and let me tell you - it's a lot better! Mostly older ladies and stuff looking. It's a lot nicer and the MAs actually have time to give you lots of attention! If you can fit it into your sched, I recommend popping by on a lunch hour, whatever

Ok, I have spent the morning trying to confirm this lovely bit of news only to be told that it has not been confirmed yet and Mayfair doesn't know what is going in there. My hubby works for UPS so I have him doing recon work for me. They always know what stores are going in where because packages always start arriving well before the store opens. Inventory has to be sent somewhere

So now I'm not sure what is going on with MAC coming to the mall. I really hope it isn't just some rumor! I asked the people the worked in the mall, and they said they cannot confirm or deny that MAC is coming. I did go into Bernard Calebault and chat up the sales girl that was working there, and I noticed that their last day of business is tomorrow (April 23rd). I asked the girl if she knew what was taking their place and she said MAC. So I have no idea what to believe. More people are saying MAC than not, but I guess we'll find out shortly. If I hear anything else I'll post it in here!

I say you can be pretty confident it is. I am sure MAC doesn't want the info released to the public (what is up with MAC being so private lately anyway??) so they can generate lots of hype themselves. Let's hope it's just the mall managers are just trying to be proffessional...

I used to work at Park Royal and I remember when new stores were coming in, all the mall staff would know about it but no one would really confirm it through management - let's hope it's something like that!!

Oh!!! So glad you were able to confirm this Shawna! I was really hoping the store would be open for the summer though

I have to go back to school in September so I probably won't see the new MAC store until Christmas!!!

I wonder what the downtown bay girls will think? Mayfair is so much more convenient than downtown.

Ok, got some more info about the new MAC store today. Good news is, we are definitly getting a free standing MAC store in Mayfair Mall in Victoria, bad news is that it won't open until Jan 2007

Oh well, at least it's coming!
