So I've read on these forums that brushes aren't good for b2m. But I noticed that there's a b2m logo on the box of my novel twist brush set. What???

For the sets you have to have all the pieces to back2mac. Full size regular brushes are guaranteed for life. If you take a full size brush in that is broken you should get a replacement. You can send them in too if you write to mac and explain.

Full sized are guaranteed for life???!!!! That's freaking awesome. It's the first time I've heard about that! So if the hair gets really ugly and stuff they can be replaced? What are the details on that? Do the reciepts need to be kept forever in order to do that? I've never had a single full sized MAC brush and I just recently bought the novel twist set. My first mac brushes ever.

I've been told the same thing about the mac brushes they will replace them if say the handle breaks or the brush head falls, off/ alot of the hair falls out, they will also help replace the brushsets if they get hurt (I had one get hurt out of my set) and they gave me the full sized verson of it

so I def. believe it!

full size brushes are NOT guaranteed for life. they are not guaranteed for any length of time. if the hairs get dirty, we do not return/replace them. it is your own damn fault if you don't know clean them! occasionally, if the head falls off or the handle breaks, we exchange them, but that is rare. we tell customers how to clean them, and if they are getting the ferrule wet, that is why the head falls off. a customer tried to return a brush that her dog chewed up! yeah, like that was really going to happen!

as for the original question, no brush counts toward b2m. brushes (any size) and liners/concealer that you sharpen are excluded.

True. And also, contrary to popular belief, MAC makes some faulty products. I ordered a 192 from Gloss.com at one point and the head of the brush was loose from the time I took it out of the plastic sleeve. It wiggled, and I gently tugged it and it popped right off. Of course Gloss took it back. The ferrule never had a chance to get wet, lol.

MAC cannot guarantee a brush for life. This is largely in part due to the fact that most (not most of us here, though) brush consumers do not bother to take care of their brushes. Taking care of your brushes includes washing them at least every 2 weeks or so (depending on use), not getting anything past the ferrule wet, and using Brush Cleanser to wash them (Zest, Lever 2000, Lava, etc are not appropriate stand-ins for Brush Cleanser). I think when rumors such as these get started is when MAC customers take advantage of MAC's very generous return policy. Now, of course, if something is defective with your brush (i.e. the head falls off the second day you own it, then yes, MAC should and gladly will replace it), but when people who have owned their brushes for many years try to exchange a brush because it is falling apart from their own misuse can be very frustrating. For the record, MAC cannot guarantee any brush because they can't be sure of how you're taking care of it once you leave the store. If customers continually misuse the MAC policy I can almost assure everyone that MAC will change it to be more rigid and less liberal. I believe that most of us on this forum are grateful for MAC's policies and would be respectful consumers.

clean your brushes with brush cleanser, lay them flat to dry, and just take care of them in general and they will last a long time.

thanks veronikaj for putting it into words that i should've!

I never understood how you're supposed to clean a brush without getting some water into the head of it. I mean, the dirt tends to get stuck deep down into the brush head, and the only way to really get out allll the dirt is by washing it to the core. ??

if you use the brush cleanser, you don't have to rinse with water. but if you deep clean them (every few months or so), you rinse with water, but you do so with the handle side up, hairs side down. then dry laying flat. this prevents the water from getting down into the ferrule, causing the glue to loosen and the head falling off.

if you clean them often enough with brush cleanser, makeup shouldn't be getting down that far into the brush. if it is, they need cleansed more often. besides, the brush cleanser disinfects, so the germs would be taken care of anyway.

does that help?

If the head falls off, simply glue with superglue. The bristles are still awesome, so you can just put it back together. My 190 and a small powder brush fell off the handle, and I simply glued em back together. Better than ever. =D

Alright, so they aren't lifetime guaranteed. But back to my original question, if brushes aren't valid for B2M then why did they put a b2m logo on the novel twist brush set?

it may have just been a typing error. since mac recycles glass, metal and plastic, the only thing that would be used is the ferrule. it may be too time consuming and costly to separate it from the rest of the brush, which could be why they don't recycle the brushes.
