Does he have a hobby? They should really to embrace it if he does. My autistic (step) sister likes to sew and collect paint strip colours.
Autistic people do have capabilities, but we don't give them the means, or teach them to be at their best.
I am happy to hear that he has been returned. The situation with the caregivers needs to be addressed.
