Can't keep up with the LE!

I just want to know if I'mt he only one that can't keep up with all the new LE products that mac has been putting out? I'm still trying to get the old msf, piggies, and shadow. I estimated that before the year is out if I bought something from the new collections that it would cost appox. $400- $500 at least (holiday palletes and nocturnelle are looking so good!). Also I recently found another cco that I can get to and it's just too much. And in the fact ebay prices can be ridicluos ($70 for gold deposit msf!?) and counterfiet- had no idea the fake could be so good, if you don't buy at the time you can end up spending a fortune. Plus I know I'm not the only one with a mean fashion addiction. How does everyone cope? *sighs* Thank you for letting me rant. Please excuse the bad grammar and run on sentences. I'm just sick of it.Thanks.

Thankfully - I only NEED 1 or 2 items from each collection. I feel pretty satisfied that makes me happy & I don't have to HAVE everything that MAC puts out. I have to say that I am one of the few that really enjoys the fact that MAC puts new stuff out so often. It feeds my addiction!

that's probably why i haven't bought anything since technacolor.

whatever though, passing up collections isn't the end of the world, it also kinda helps me later on when i really never to evaluate if i "need" something

i just select what i like best out of the collections
if something is super limited like the Zandra collection then i buy the whole thing but usually i just get what i like and i dont get it just beacuse its "Limited" thats just stupid if your never going to use it.

Out of the new collections all im getting is the quads and the pigment sets probably a couple other things but i cant be shure till i see it in real life

plus usually you can find the limited stuff later on at the CCO's so i dont sweat it.

I think what factors a lot into whether or not you hoard items from each collection or pick and choose is how new you are to the brand. People who have been collecting for several years probably see so many repeats in the new collections, they can control themselves (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though). Since I only started out with Amuse this past summer, everything in all the new collections looks new to me, and I want it all! I am hoping it will all get old fast.

i was just thinking this today when i went to the mac website earlier. however, i am mostly extremely obsessed w/ piggies & msf's (always buy 2-3 of each color!) that i haven't splurge on the past 4-5 collections. i bought a few e/s (i've just started "collecting" them) and a couple of l/g but that's about it. i don't really bother w/ whether it's LE or not. i have devised a rule which i often use when i go to the mall: if i see the items 5 times and i still want it, then i buy it. if i have the slightest of doubt, i just move on... this, of course, goes down the drain w/ piggies & msf's. i just find out that it's out and i'm out there buying whether the colors look good on me or not! for now, i'm waiting on the holiday collections. looks like i'll be broke again by the end of the year=(

LOL.. this sounds like my rule.. if I see it once, and don't buy it, and keep thinking about it for at least a month, then I definitely go get it

it has definitely been hard, but lately there have only been a few things from each collection that i have liked...but the holiday sets and everything else coming up will be too hard, i will definitely be broke.

My problem is that I can not see any MAC in person at all unless I order it- so it is really hard to pass up what I THINK something might be.

If I had been able to work with Accent Red and Softwash Grey before I ordered them, I probably would have passed even though I am a total pigment addict.

The quality stinks.

When I compare some of these new pigments with older formulations, the difference is night and day. The newer ones are quite inferior in durability and quality.

I normally only try to go for the unique duochromatic colors in pigments, FL of any kind, and MSF. I refuse to ever purchase another eyeshadow- the quality is horrible now, so that helps.

Even the lipsticks are hard to decide on because I can never see the quality in person.

I have been only picking the unusual colors that I do not have in lipcolors which reduces the temptations way down.

Honestly, I am with you- I wish MAC would concentrate on making fewer more unique collections with high quality than to crank out tons of LE items with inferior quality.

I've only just started to buy MAC after years of using cheapo brands. All the LE stuff is gorgeous but as i don't have tons of money to spend on MAC being a Mum and having anhouse and everything i am telling myself I am not going to get into the LE trap and will just buy what i need and will wear all the time. At the moment i am very tempted by the untamed quads but i know they are not staple colors so i think i might just forget about them and carry on building up my essentials. I do like the look of the holiday warm and cool pallettes though and the mini brush sets so i might get them for xmas. Other than the odd thing from the LE collections i doubt i will ever be able to buy it all

I just hate the fact that almost eveything they come out with is limited edition; it really creates pressure to buy something because it may not come back out again or sell out so fast. I hate the feeling of, not being able to wait for the sake that it may not be there when/if I decide to get it and I don't want to go to Ebay where someone will try to charge me a ridiculous amount of money! Also, almost everything being limited edition creates pressure to not use the product as much because eventually it will run out and it's not like you can buy it again!

I don't try to keep up with LE. I am concerned usually with what looks good on me, so I just browse and shop like that.

That said, I'm a pigment addict (I use them for SO MUCH) and do use the mineralized skinfinishes, so I buy those when they come out. Otherwise, I don't fret about it. They'll make something else that looks almost identical, or they'll repromote it, or they'll make something better anyway.

I don't try to keep up with it. I just buy some stuff I like. I don't want to get caught up in their LE marketing plan and such and I'm hoping that with enough people doing that, that they'll reduce the amount of LE products and concentrate on quality like mentioned above.

I try not to let the LE frenzy get to me and influence my purchasing ... but I must say that the LE items are the first I am drawn to when looking at the new collections. But lately I have been much more attentive to what works for me rather than needing to have the latest shade/formulation etc. And it seems to me anyway that the LE items aren't selling out quite as fast as they have in the past (MSFs and Zandra excepted) so that helps the wallet too!

This would make so much more sense! I think that MAC's collections are amazing and unique... what makes 'em so special is their exclusiveness and the care that goes into creating them .They should only roll around 3-4 times a year...that would make the collections even more appealing.

well...i used to go crazy for each collection..but once u collect a certain amount of items..ur like..ok this is the same as the 5 other colors i have...and epecially withlip items..i try to cut down cause im afraid i will open them all one day and they will start to turn and smell bad. i certainly buy skinfinishes right away....and some eyeshadows if they are unique enough..but other than that..after a while u get sensitized..lol. I've even cut down my pigment crazy! i know...its sad..lol.i try to first see how many other similar things i have..then how bad i want it..then il lget it. ive noticed that the recent collections dont sell out as fast as they used to..so u have time to mull them over.

I have a horrible shopping problem, so I make sure to limit myself to only what I will actually wear, even if it's once. If I know I won't wear a certain color or don't like it, I won't buy it even if it's super exclusive. Luckily, most of my staples are regular items. Plus, I usually don't like a collection or most of the colors (except Untamed, and a few others in the past).

I think LEs need to be saved for companies that benefit from them. Like Louis Vuitton. How the hell can you release something, get people hooked on it and say it's no longer being produced!??!?

This is only my third week ever using MAC and I am ADDICTED to LE stuff. But only the stuff I use from MAC - fluidlines, eyeshadows, and pigments. I've bought all of the limited edition pigments online, got all of the fluidlines, and am working my way through the limited edition eyeshadows available on the website (only like seven left). I've also saved up money for the new Nocturnelle collection so I can get all of the eyeshadows and pigments.
