Chanel Holiday 2010

OK, I'm really loving Chanel. Why do I feel like I'm slipping into obsession? MAC? What's MAC?

I picked up the quad, Pink Pulsion and (unexpectedly) Tweed Fuchsia. I put Pink Pulsion on in the car over Violetta and it's

. I also tried on Tweed Fuchsia and decided that it wasn't nearly as cool as I had been afraid of. It gives me a really lovely flush.

Oddly enough, the MA at the Nordstrom counter I went to told me the quad was "sheer," but I found it perfectly pigmented even when dry.

But she did sign me up for a Chanel master class next month.

I'm tempted to go back this weekend (or tomorrow to a closer counter) for Pleasing. Decisions, decisions....

I stopped by the local Nordies just to check out this collection today. Here are my thoughts:


Pleasure is a gorgeous brown with multi color shimmer that swatches as a pinkish brown. It's the most opaque and flattering color out of the 4 offered. This is already sold out at my counter but they are getting more shipment. I might go back for it..

Charming is a light pink with lots of shimmer and was surprising sheer. I thought I was going to love this color, but it was too sheer. Same goes for Futile, which was clear with lots of glitter.

Pink Pulsion is a bright fuschia/hot pink with glittter. It's a pretty color but I wasn't impressed with the glitter.

Quad - definitely shimmery but nicely pigmented, especially the darkest brown.

Tweed - so so bright in the pan and when swatch, but once applied on the cheeks, it gives such a pretty flush. It's that look you get after a light workout

Magnolia - I really like this pink lipstick that brightens up the face.

Patchouli is a brownish color with shimmer. I prefer Magnolia over this but it is a pretty color.

Splash is a taupe with slight shimmer that's so very pretty. I'm tempted to pick this up but the price is a bit high.

I will have swatches up later tonight. Swatches are up. I think the stand out of the collection are actually the tweed and Pleasure.

I said, no not really you do it all the time, you know - you drive your truck into my driveway & throw the box!

I really don't like FedEx Home Delivery much. My understanding is that it's outsourced and I don't think they really have control over what happens once it gets to that final delivery person's car/van/whatever. I've gotten deliveries at very strange times. But I do like free shipping too, so....

On other fronts I am becoming a little intrigued with Pleasing glossimer. Too bad I can't get to the mall till next week.

Thanks. I'm gonna check this out when I pick up my glosses. I've been so focused on red lippies that I forgot that I could use a really nice Chanel nude. I have Bondi but it looks almost like nothing on. A shimmery, dark nude sounds divine.

It could have just been the used testers, but the color payoff didn't seem that good & it seemed chalky & not a smooth texture. Maybe just the tester. But it seemed as though every tweed blush was that same way.

I was so upset today, I drove to my Macy's to see if the collection came in. I didn't even have to get to the counter to tell that they hadn't, so I left. I want to make one purchase (I have a bunch of other things on my wishlist), not have to make multiple ones.

I felt the same way when I tested them a while back. But I got the rose anyway, and it applied okay. I do have a big issue with the staying power though. It's enough for me to pass on fuchsia.

And after having read bumblebees review, I'll be passing on Charming too. I have a few sheer Chanel glossimers already!

I will definitely be getting Pleasing and Patchouli.

Hahahaha. I can just imagine the poor guy downright baffled with your NM box in his hands.

And I'm not going to lie, when I saw Karla's swatch of Tweed Fuchsia and she described it as "warmer watermelon pink", my wallet-holding hand trembled a little too.
