I just returned home yesterday from our trip to Atlanta for Halloween (we live in South Georgia=no Chanel counters nearby
). I visited the Chanel counter at Nordstrom at Perimeter Mall. The SA was very kind and informative. She did a total makeover on me even though all I requested was a colormatch to the foundation. We discussed my skin type and the best options for me. She decided Perfection Lumiere in 30 Beige was my best match. This is my first foray into Chanel makeup so my haul is large since I was getting some basics included in my color items. Prior to the makeover I only has the Accent blush, Indecise Rouge Allure lipstick, and the Charming Metalasses quint. My SA said that the Matte Lumiere foundation is being phased out. She originally was going to try that one on me but I declined since it's being phased out. I didn't want to fall in love with it only to have to find a new foundation later down road, especially with Chanel counters being so limited where I live. I am putting this post in this thread because I did purchase another Holiday item in this haul, the Illusion D'Ombre in Fatal. If this post needs to be moved please do so. I love purple eyeshadows and this is my first IDO. She mixed it with water so it lasted all day without creasing or fading. She then lined with the Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner in #83 Cassis which is a gorgeous eggplant color. She topped off my lashes with the Blue Le Volume de Chanel mascara. She said the blue mixed with purple eyelook would make my brown eyes pop and it did! Speaking of which Nordstrom's Mascara Madness starts on Nov 9th and they are taking presales now. I ordered the Black, Purple, and Blue in the Le Volume de Chanel. Mascara Madness is buy 2 mascaras get one free for those who don't know (I didn't prior to my makeover). Call your Nordstrom SA for more details. We discussed the different options for setting powder. She was intent on the Les Beiges for me but I was insistent on the Poudre Universelle Libre based on the wonderful reviews on this site. She matched me to #20 Clair. I might have to get the next darker one for summer though. She used the clicky pen concealer om me in #25. This is the only product that I did not purchase since I just opened a YSL Touche Eclat. I told her I would purchase the Chanel one once the YSL is used up. She then put Joues Contraste #72 Rose Initial on me. She said it would provide balance to my dark hair and eyes and the purple eye look. For lips she did Le Crayon Levres #68 Rose Poudre and Rouge Coco Shine #86 Instinct. I asked for Boy but they were currently sold out as she said it was their #1 seller. As she was doing my makeover I was smelling the wonderful Chanel perfumes since they were sitting right next to me. I can see a Chanel addiction beginning to take root in me now. I really liked the Chance Chanel in Eau Tendre, She gave me plenty of samples of it including a roller ball. Plus she spritzed the tissue paper she placed in my bag with it. I have kept that tissue paper and I love to pick it up and smell it. She gave me other samples too. I think she is trying to sell me on the skincare because most of it is skincare samples. I tried some of it last night and my skin does feel soft and smooth. If I see a marked improvement in my skin I can see myself purchasing these items. So for samples I received: Vitalumiere Aqua in 30 Beige x2, Chance Chanel Eau Tendre roller ball and a spray vial, Demaquillant Yeux Intense eye makeup remover, Le Volume de Chanel mascara in Noir, Le Jour de Chanel Reenforcer x2, Le Lift Creme Fine x2, La Nuit de Chanel Recharge x2. Speaking of samples while she was doing my makeover a woman was going to each of the beauty counters asking for samples of makeup and perfume. She looked very sloppy like she belonged in WalMart instead of Nordstrom. She had no makeup on, was dressed in pjs, unbrushed hair pulled up into a very messy ponytail. She kept reaching into the area where the SA was doing my makeup while she was doing my eyes. I got extremely nervous because if she bumped into the SA it meant a mascara wand was going to go into my eye. The woman obiviously had no class and was rude! The SA picked up on my nervousness and called the dept manager over. The manager then assisted the woman in getting all of her freebies from all of the beauty counters. She did not purchase a thing! I can see asking for some foundation samples or skincare samples if you are interested in trying a product out. But she was obiviously just there to get free product. Anyway I'm off my soap box now. I had such a wonderful time and I can not wait to go back to Atlanta to get more Chanel items! It was a very pleasant experience indeed! The SA did forget to ring up the jar of bronzing base I asked for that ya'll rave about on here. I didn't notice until I started back home. I called her and she is going to send it out with my Mascara Madness order. I hope I get more wonderful samples. Sorry for the long post. I just had such a lovely time. What are your thoughts on the Chanel skincare? Do share!
