i live nowhere near a mac store. there is ONE counter 45 minutes away, and the next closest one is 2 hours away. i want to know why kansas city (the closest major city to me) doesnt even have a mac counter!? can this be true?? i pretty much have to order everything online.

no fair girl.

I live a 5 minute drive and a 20 minute walk from a MAC freestanding store. Best thing that ever happened to the mall.

Im certain they decide where to put the stores based on the demand of the product in the area. Im sure they have people research the best locations that will make the company the most money.

Hopefully they check out your area soon!

I feel your pain in a way though definitely, I want a Sephora so bad ANYWHERE close to where I live.
In my entire PROVINCE (I live in Canada, provinces are like States) we don't even have a Sephora!
Like are you serious! I either have to head down to the US (which I do once a year for shopping)
or head over to the next province (one hour flight or 11 hour car ride), geeezeee. Thats an expensive trip I tell ya.

Technically I'm in Airdrie - now I feel bad for complaining about the 20-30 minute drive into Calgary to hit Market Mall or Chinook... =P

blindpassion - you could always ask us nice Calgarians to ship you some Sephora goodness.

(I'm originally from Comox, so I understand your pain! I miss the MAC store in Vancouver though, that was the best part of living there.)

My bad. I took your post to mean that you were waaaaaay north in Alberta. But with how fast Airdrie is booming, they should consider opening one up there for sure! And I am still going to mention something when I'm in there too... they can't fix a problem they don't know about! And if they get a lot of people questioning where they put stores, they might look into it.

And I agree about us nice Calgarians shipping out Sephora.... I certainly don't mind!!!

Where did you send it to? If ya want, I'll copy your letter, change the name, of course, and re-word some of it and be glad to send it out!

The drive's not too bad if you take the back roads, lol. It's definitely worth the end result! I usually combine it with clothes/shoes shopping since there isn't much selection in Airdrie (unless you want to buy everything from Walmart...)

We're enablers.

We just got a MAC counter in my area of the woods a year ago. It's only because the department store was converted to a Belk. I think the Sephora that's coming here is the only one in my state.

Dont forget about your specktra sisters in other countries! Some of them dont have MAC at all.
Here in Australia we only have two free standing stores in the entire country and a handfull of counters in each state.

As far as my three home bases, I have two that are 15 minutes away and one that is a mere 2 minutes away. Damn you, Rancho Mirage and your conviently (dangerously) close MAC store!

Wow, you guys are right i live like 10 mins. from the galleria and there are like three macs in there, but in my hometown there is no mac, but i kind of understand why, its a growing town and honestly people are not risktakers when it comes to makeup I have never seen any one in red or hot pink lipstick just the fake natural look, i get wierd looks for wearing hot pink ls! Ive also been to east tx where there is a mac in a town thats about the same size as my hometown and its empty i dont think people go there, it seems like they prefer clinique or lancome. i think that we have a crappy mall with little buisness oportunities, and once i read a post that said mac only opens stores in malls where only they (mac) are allowed to train their employes.

wtf. seriously? Why the hell would I order my products from their stores when i can just order them on maccosmetics online. And I dont need to visit the damn website to see where there are stores closest to me.. I know where they are... THATS THE DAMN PROBLEM.

I freaking hate automated responces.

It looks like they've used a form letter that applies to international queries as well. not all countries have a MAC website they can order from, which is why they suggest contacting the store.

You're not going to get immediate action from the query response team. they don't have the authority to say "oh wow, yes, we'll open a new store!"

They've passed your request onto marketing, that's all you can expect for now. these things take time, and would rely on the demand being there.

It probably has to do with demographics and targeted marketing. In places like LA, Las Vegas, New York etc MAC locations are everywhere. MAC started as a line that catered to artists, and there's this stigma about relocating to said locations to persue careers in entertainment. IDK how to explain it further, but I know you all will get it hahaha

Yeah I totally understand- I was just hopeing for maybe something more than a formulated letter that they send to everyone. I was really hopeing for a "You're in luck- we've actually decided to start construction on a MAC store in ____ in May of 2009!" or something like that.

I don't mind shipping out goodies from Sephora or MAC Pro, any of you can PM me. I have lots of MAC stores in my location, I'd go crazy living somewhere w/o MAC or Sephora. I feel bad for you guys!! Oh! I also have an MUFE Pro location where you can buy palettes and the full line. PM me cuz I'm always looking for an excuse to go makeup shopping.

Not sure where you live, but there is a MAC store in Country Club Plaza and several counters in the KC area at Macy's and Nordstrom..

There's also a CCO at the Legends outlet mall in Kansas City Kansas. I live 4 hours from KC and always make it a point to go to those stores when I go down there.
