Crime & Punishment - 20 "boys", 1 "man", and an 11 year old girl...

Would never happen, men would come out in droves to vote that down if it ever hit the ballot lol. And even if it did pass, it would be struck down by the first male judge as, "cruel and unusual" punishment.

It's scary when you think about it how vunerable you are. I've been restrained before by guys who were messing around (they never hurt me, it was more playful than anything). And after it happened, it was like a total eye opener to how helpless I would be to your average guy around 6' in height with an average build. Knowing that no matter how hard you struggle, your not going to be able to get free isn't a happy feeling.

I think this is all very sad. It sounds like these people were taking advantage of this child's vulnerabilities (loss of mother, feelings for the 16-year old, etc) and exploiting them to the highest extreme.

In my opinion, age of consent should have nothing to do with this case. Absolutely nothing. I know that girls are younger and younger are "making the decision" to have sex more and more.... but an 11 year old with a 40 year old man? and with 20 other males? It does sound like something out of a hardcore porn flick (minus the absurd age difference) and I don't even know of that many girls of consentual age doing that type of thing. and taking orders from this 16 year old? wow.

It is just a twisted situation. I wish I could help this child.

1. An 11 year old is easily influenced, and the article said she was drawn to the teenage girl, thinking she was a boy. It was probably instilled in her mind that following through with this horrible incident would be her key to acceptance and would get her closer to being intimate with "him."
2. It doesn't matter if she's 11 or AOC, you don't participate in a mob sex act, PERIOD. There are too many medical AND moral factors at stake. "Hello, my name is HIV and when I grow up, I become AIDS. I have no physical symptoms and 2/3 of the people I infect don't know I'm their lifelong buddy. Wanna be my friend?" And then there's that alarm that should ring in any morally conscious person's mind; "Why am I in line to screw this girl? This is wrong, I want no part of it." However, many people don't have this alarm.
3. The uncle needs to face multiple charges. What he did was statitory rape, facilitating to a sexual assault, incest, and the way the article reads, this shit was planned out, so there should be some sort of conspiracy charge.
4. The teenagers all need to be tried as adults. They wanted to act adult, they need to be punished as such.
5. While we're asking where the parents are, the article says that her mother died of AIDS, it doesn't mention a father. I assume this uncle was her legal guardian, which makes it worse. She's going to be bounced through the foster care system, and isolated to death because she is HIV-infected.

Do we know for a fact she has HIV? It's not a guarentee that HIV will be passed from Mother to child. She might not be infected.

Would be ironic if she was, in a twisted karma circle kinda way...

That and There is no telling if the mother had contracted HIV after she gave birth.

and most babies do NOT contract HIV from positive mothers.
its really quite strange when you think about it.

....well, the Associated Press news report says;

Quote:
MILWAUKEE (AP) - An 11-year-old girl who allegedly had sex with as many as 20 people as a 16-year-old girl watched and coached her has had HIV since birth

so that's pretty conclusive. The 11 year old is HIV positive.
As a quick aside, it's because of the medical research progress that has been made over the past 20 years that this girl has not developed full AIDS and is still alive. I think that is truly wonderful. That research has been helped enormously by M·A·C's AIDS Fund which raises money through the sale of Viva Glam products so please support Viva Glam - thanks.
Meanwhile, back at the plot;

Of course, the probability that she will have transmitted the HIV virus to her attackers is actually incredibly small. It's a fragile virus compared to others. To give you some idea, in the case of a needle stick injury where a person is stabbed with a contaminated needle, the probability of transmission of Hepatitis B is 30%. The probability of HIV transmission under exactly the same conditions is 0.3%

I do however hope that the people who attacked her are absolutely terrified while they wait for the outcome of their HIV tests. It will do them good to be on the receiving end of fear for a change.

Little off topic... But i hate getting that test done. I'm OCD about getting tested for STD's every 3 months if I'm active while not in a monogamous relationship. And the waiting period drives me cwazy! Especially if it's the type of test where, "If you dont get a phonecall from us your fine, and just wait for the envalope in the mail."

Even worse is if you in a monogamous relationship and your boyfriend/spouse/whatever cheats on you. Had that happen to a close friend of mine. She was more upset with him for putting her at risk for STD's, than because he cheated.

Really sucks how we have to worry about that kinda stuff, especially since such a large portion of the carriers dont even know they are infected. Or that it's probably a good idea even if your on BC in a monogamous relationship to still use protection just in case he cheats on you =\

I think that the uncle was the uncle of the 16 year old, not the 11 year old victim. Not that it matters in the overall picture, but I don't think he had any relationship to the poor child.
