Soooo, I was going through my database tonight when I realised this - next to Violet Dark Soul is the second most re-promoted pigment ever. Unless I have missed other colours/collections from what I can see Dark Soul has been re-promoted 5 times over the past few years - is it really THAT popular? I get that Violet might get a lot of love, its been re-promoted 6 times, lots of people seem to like it. I do like Dark Soul, but I dont like it that good.....
Why do we get this colour over and over when there are so many other colours sooooo much better than this ...

The other colours that have been heavily repromoted are Melon, Frost, Kitschmas, Blue Brown, Pink Opal and Vanilla - and I'll buy that all except Kitschmas

Dark soul IMHO is so yucky! I do love violet-so I can see that getting re-promotes...it's easy to work with. DS..is not so much.

Dark Soul is repromoted often most likely just because it's black. So any collection where they need a black pigment they just use it instead of reformulating a bunch of black pigments.

^^I agree, but it's not a "plain" black...it's black with sparkles which is probably what makes it more attractive - it's what got me! It is harder to work with, but I love using it wet as a liner.

I have had bad luck with my dark soul. I think it is pretty, but when I use it for some reason it always ends up somewhere where it shouldn't be. I have just started skipping over it in favor of other colors. As far as I can tell Knoxydoll is right and they are just being lazy.

I have Dark Soul. Its alright. Kind of hard to work with, but it works great wet as a smokey liner. I think they're just lazy, but also Its still a really nice black to work with especially as a Pigment. I ordered Black Ore from the newest collection of LE Pigments.
I don't know about the pigment: violet, but I know Dark Soul can easily be used as a "staple" black if you don't own any other blacks >_> plus the silver sparkles are nice.. *cough*

do they keep repromoting to perhaps "force" us into finally trying this/buying this?

Yesssss, I am very excited about my Black Ore coming too! I was going to skip completely because of the texture, but the fact that its black and looks SO much prettier than DS sold me ~ plus I had some help from a friend

I have Dark Soul & i'm scared to use it! Too much fallout & anything black on me (pigment or eyeshadow) ends up all over my face. I really need to work on my technique LOL

I can't wait for Black Ore!!!

the only thing of DS i have is the small vial that came with one of the holiday sets a few years back. i dont mess around with black shadows to much so i rarely touch it. but it is pretty in the vial.

I like Dark Soul p/g, but I do not find myself reaching for it on a regular basis, which is why I bought a sample size.

I *love* Dark Soul, I have the lighter 1st release as a sample and I used it to create smokey eyes that actually worked on me. I'd tried with other shadows but Dark Soul is freaking fantastic and I lubs it. I used it over a sheer white shimmer (one from Red Earth) on the outer third of my eye. Every other shadow I've used to create a smokey eye leaves me looking dead so I love the shimmer!

I find that most people don't really like Dark Soul so it's funny that it keeps getting re-promoted. I like it. It works really well to smoke out your corner/crease or set kohl liners.

We actually thought the opposite - that MAC had made a whole bunch of it and keep promoting it to get rid of the excess since it wasn't moving.

Honestly I'm not a big fan of Dark Soul. It ends up looking like a muddy gray colour on me most of the time. I much prefer Carbon, Blackground paint pot or even Black Tied. Two thumbs down for Dark Soul!! :X

~...maybe im just not using it right...:x

I have tried it a few times and don't like it. It's not very workable and fallout is horrible. I have a sample and that will last me forever. I would much rather use Carbon or Black Tied.

It would be nice to get a new black pigment that is easier to work with.
